  • "The Hollow was a lovely place to stay."

Everything was of a very high standard, comfortable and spotlessly clean. I would happily recommend The Hollow.

  • "Hi, The property was in a special location, very quiet and hidden from the outside world."

Ideally situated for what we wanted to do with National trust and English Heritage venues. Very clean and well established with everything you need on a stay when away from home…. In conclusion, a real home from home.

  • "A lovely cottage in a beautiful location."

Really impressed with the layout, facilities and cleanliness. Appreciated the 'welcome' board on arrival, together with the milk in the fridge - really nice touches! Perhaps a few more kitchen utensils may be helpful as we prefer to cook in rather than eat out? Otherwise to be highly recommended.

Nice and quiet location down a country track with lots of wildlife nearby. Tastefully decorated and a cosy feel but still plenty of space for us. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "The cottage was brilliant."

although the steps by the outside table and chairs onto the grass could be fixed as very loose. Other than that everything was perfect. The quiet was wonderful. Dogs loved garden. Hope to get back again.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The Hollow. Thank you for bringing the loose step to our attention, it has now been fixed. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely gorgeous cottage."

Katie & Will as hosts leave you in peace but got in touch to make sure everything was fine it was amazing. My husband & I took my Mum plus our 2 dogs & it was totally amazing. The sheep & lambs were perfect neighbours. It’s a hidden gem but if the weather was better the only negative would be steps in the garden do need fixed as not great the way it is. Still a magical place.

Cottage was clean, well equipped and finished to a high standard. Good communication from Katie prior to arrival with clear instructions. Nice welcome pack and message on arrival. Enclosed garden was ideal for the 2 dogs. Log burner was a welcome addition. Can't fault the place and we would definitely consider booking again in order to explore more of this great county. We really enjoyed our stay.

The property is located in a lovely peaceful valley, you get the occasional walkers strolling past, but that's about it - super peaceful. The property itself is really comfortable and includes everything you need to make your stay perfect.

  • "The most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in."

We couldn't find a breadboard, and the central heating took a bit of working out, but overall it was a fabulous place- we only left early on Friday because the incoming weather did not look favourable! A beautiful county, friendly people, and the food at the Bay Horse in West Woodburn and in The Gun in the village was superb. Thank you.

  • "A beautiful house in a stunning location and very quiet."

The house is done out to a high standard and very clean. Fabulous log burner too. There is nothing we could fault except maybe to have a mirror in the second bedroom but a minor detail. Felt totally relaxed and chilled as soon as we walked in, this is definitely a place to unwind. Plenty of places to walk, a nice pub if you don’t mind the mile walk. The pub is open in the day for coffee and cakes and do lovely evening meals. We did the Kielder forest drive which was very nice, but there was so much scenery around the house, you really didn’t need to go far.

The cottage is light, comfortable, well equipped. There is an enclosed garden with open views. Great to sit in and secure for dogs and children. We used it as a base to walk Hadrian’s Wall. We also visited Hexham (abbey and gaol), Washington wetlands reserve, and National Trust Washington Old Hall. Lots to do in the area and delightful to get back to. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "We had a great stay at The Hollow."

Easy to find, lovely location setting, beautifully decorated, well equipped, very comfortable beds and sofa, powerful shower and netflix for the kids. Lovely having a garden & fire pit. Our kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows talking to the sheep. Great pub within walking distance serving delicious & well priced food. We visited Sycamore gap (inspired by the picture in the bedroom!), Alnwick & Newcastle. Loads to do nearby and some great walks. The scenery is stunning and everyone so friendly and helpful. The owners were very informative and helpful to. One small suggestion would be a lamp in the living room for the evening so the bright lights are not required. We really loved the cottage as a family and will be recommending! Thanks so much for letting us stay!
