The Turkey House Hutton, near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Scottish Borders Situated 5 miles from Allanton, 1.5 miles from Paxton and 6 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed Situated in the grounds of a former farmhouse, this Charming and secluded cottage offers a cosy getaway, boasting magnificent countryside views. Perfect for walkers, golfers, cyclists, or birdwatchers and those just wanting a quiet 'get away from it all' holiday. As you arrive at the cottage, you can leave your belongings in the hallway, before entering into the open plan living area. The sitting space has a selection of comfy arm chairs where you can rest in front of the electric wood burner and watch TV, feeling right at home. A nearby dining table is ideal for enjoying breakfast in the morning amongst the heart-warming features, and the contemporary kitchen is a perfect base for preparing meals throughout the day. The king-size bed is where you will want to be come night time, with its neutral décor and set of bedside tables. Outside, the garden boasts views south to the Cheviot Hills and west to Hutton and the Lammermuirs. A few miles away are the beaches of Coldingham, Berwick/Spittal plus the gorgeous and extensive Goswick and Cheswick sands with fabulous views of Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. There is a hopper bus that goes from the end of the drive to and from Berwick.

In addition, Berwick has excellent public transport and there is a frequent train service to south to Newcastle, Durham and York as well as north to Edinburgh and beyond. A romantic retreat in a charming location.

The small border town of Duns is set in a wide valley known as The Merse and has been the capital of Berwickshire over the centuries since the ancient capital, Berwick-upon-Tweed was conceded to the English in 1492. The town offers a good range of shops, including an award-winning butchers and a quality delicatessen, pubs and restaurants, whilst the Jim Clark Museum and the Jim Clark Rally draw racing enthusiasts from all over the world. Duns Castle sits within a nature reserve with well-marked woodland lakeside walks through the castle estate. There are many castles and historic houses scattered throughout the surrounding area including Manderston House, home of Lord Palmer, Floors Castle and Gardens, home of the Duke of Roxburgh and the largest inhabited house in Scotland, Mellerstain House and Paxton House and Country Park. Across the Tweed in North Northumberland there are the delights of Norham Castle and Ford and Etal Estates. A short drive to the east coast offers the opportunity to explore the dog friendly beaches at Coldingham or for the more adventurous why not learn to surf at the local surf school. Widely acclaimed golfing is available all over the Scottish Lowlands, most locally at Duns, Eyemouth, Coldstream and Melrose. Permits are available locally for fishing for trout and salmon on the Tweed, Teviot and Whiteadder. The nearby walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is well worth a visit with a weekly market, town trains and a cinema. A short hop to Eyemouth to feed the resident harbour seals and enjoy the award-winning fish and chips of take a boat trip for some coastal exploration.
