  • "Lives up to its name, we were very cosy."

    Great to have Wi-Fi. Very handy for lots of outings to local villages and towns. Lots of extras were unexpected. Beds very extremely comfy, slept very well.

  • "Property was as described and pleasantly more spacious than expected with plenty of storage space in both kitchen and bedrooms."

    It was in a quiet peaceful area in a great position for walks through the nature reserve to the beach and for driving to the many beautiful areas Northumberland has to offer. We did have a problem at the beginning of the holiday but the owner dealt with it promptly as soon as I rang him

  • "Unfortunately the property fell short of the high Sykes standards in many ways."

    It was clean but lacked a lot of basic necessities which we feedback to Sykes when we received an email on arrival but nothing was done about it. Short falls as below: No hairdryer No cereal bowls No desert spoons No handwash in bathroom or kitchen No trays No jug for water No pan scouer to clean pans No dishwasher tablets No washing machine No Canisters for tea/ coffee/sugar Not enough towels Not enough pillows The oven dials were all worn out, so you didn’t know which ring was hot & the same with the temperature dial for the oven No provisions at all for dogs although says it’s do friendly When sat out in the back yard, the gate doesn’t keep shut as the bolt on the out side, so not secure for dogs There was a serious strong smell/ odour in the bathroom / main bedroom - fusty / old smell. It lacked of homely comforts & a female touch. This was extremely disappointing & not the usual standard given by Sykes Holidays, we expect a full explanation & refund by return of email.

    Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear about the raised issues and wish you would have contacted us during your stay so we could have attempted to address these faults, in regards to the dishwasher tablets all our properties are self catering and these would have had to be purchased by yourself, the property also does not list to have a washing machine.   • "The property was as advertised and indeed had a dishwasher which we didn't expect."

    The only let down from our point of view were the beds which were uncomfortably soft and needed the mattresses replaced.

  • "Good points clean, good location, Kitchen."

    ..Poorly stocked received 4 plates, forks, mugs, glasses constantly rinsing pots, need more of everything + sugar/salt pot/serving/salad dishes measuring jugs, couldn't even make gravy. Cooking terrible no marking on hob so guessing game. No cleaning product left to wipe count Kitchen or bathroom after use. Needs pillow protectors. Been in lots of sykes but sorry this one not up to my standard

    All the things you needed where there some one has taken them we will replace them and do a inventory every week as we are only doing weekly stays from now on I can’t believe people would take them hope you enjoyed the wine and pimms Property Owner

  • "The accommodation would benefit by having more kitchen equipment such as teapot, milk jug, wooden spoons."

    The oven /hob were a bit outdated and could benefit by updating. Black mastic was present under the bottom of the sink. Overall very pleased with the facility

    Maybe I should update the cooker and hob but will have to wait until empty most of what is missing was there we will check the kitchen every week now as well will only be doing weekly stays from now on thanks for your review Property Owner

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
