No complaints whatsoever. Location perfect with short drives to plenty of interesting places and a 25 min walk to a beautiful lake and the beach. Local shops 5 min walk a godsend. Caretaker lives across the road and is so approachable. He also puts your bins out for you. Would definitely rent again.

Very comfortable beds and spacious bedrooms, the living and kitchen areas are also extremely spacious lovely comfy sofas to relax on after a day walking. The rear enclosed garden is fabulous for dogs too. The accommodation is in a perfect location for exploring and only a 15 minute walk to druridge lake and fabulous beach. Help is always at hand if you need it or have any queries or questions and nothing is to much trouble. Would highly recommend

  • "Jamal lodge has plenty of space for 2 families or 4 couples and their pets."

Great base to explore Northumberland with some nice local dog walks ( right across the road there's a path that you can turn right or left for great doggy walks). Got everything you need for a week or two away from home all facilities are good just needs updating a bit and the lodge could do with some maintenance and a lick of paint. Overall I was happy with Jamal lodge and would go back.

  • "We have stayed here before, so we know it is good, but a few comments we have are."

Comfort - could do with a fix on the sofa downstairs. This is very sunken in the middle and we all had issues getting up and out of this. Cleanliness - we had an issue with flies. Lots of flies present as soon as we took over. We could kill 6 to 10 a day, but more back the next day to replace them. We could not find where they were coming from as the lodge itself was very clean. We had no windows or doors open, so issue might need further investigation.

  • "This is a lovely Swiss style lodge."

Very well equipped and very comfortable. The walks on Druridge Bay were fantastic, we almost had the whole beach to ourselves, mainly met other dog walkers. Amble is a lovely town it's Sunday market is worth a visit. Morpeth is another town well worth a visit. We love the Northumberland coast and this is a excellent place to base yourselves.

Cottage is always clean and comfortable. The new boiler meant it was warm when the weather outside was anything but !! The cottage is only a short distance from the coast which was great for long walks with the dogs on the beach. We will be returning next year.

We booked this break to bring our mothers to a place we love and they were not disappointed. Both were so impressed with the cottage and its location. The beach at Druridge Bay is either a 20 minute walk or a 2 minute drive away and the beach at Cresswell is fantastic, the dogs enjoyed long walks on empty beaches and we enjoyed the refreshments available afterwards at the Beach Cafe. This was a return visit for us and we booked this cottage again during our stay, Covid restrictions allowing we will be back later in the year.

Across the road is a walk in a wood. Lots of interesting places to drive to and enjoy. There are shops including a Co-op and chip shop, literally a very short walk away (less than 5 mins) The only downside for us was being on a housing estate with no nice view. Plus it was noisy with people going about their everyday lives. This does NOT stop me from highly recommending this cottage.

  • "On arrival, Saturday 10th November, we tried to adjusted the heating as it was very hot, however in doing so the hot water went off, we spent some time trying to work it out & then phoned the caretaker across the road."

a little while later he arrived telling us that we had disturbed him watching the rugby & that a part had been ordered & would arrive on the Tuesday. Tuesday evening on our return the situation had not changed, we rang him again, he had not at that time chased the plumber. It was fixed on Wednesday 14th to some degree & we were never contacted to check it was OK. The 2nd major problem was there was no Wi-Fi, the hub was flashing on & off, again I tried to resolve the problem on not being able to find the problem I again called the caretaker who told me someone would look at it the next day, I was then contacted by the owner the next day & asked to describe what was happening & then told that evening by the caretaker that this had previously been reported to BT who had sent a new hub but had sent it to the owners address in Lincolnshire & they would send it up. This problem was never fixed & we were never contacted again about it. The downstairs lounge TV was not very good & the upstairs shower pole did not work. If we had been informed of the 2 problems it would of saved us time. We were offered to use the caretakers bathroom which however kind the gesture was, we were not on a camping holiday & had elderly parents with us. We were also offered the use of the caretakers wi-fi, again a kind offer but I needed it to research for an exam but wanted to be with my family as well & did not want to spend each evening in the home of a stranger. We paid wi-fi but didn't get it & had a lot of inconveniences, we would not recommend this lodge.

  • "Brilliant Property."

After reading the latest feedback I would like to give feedback for our visit to the property for the last week of September 2018. We had a lovely time. The kitchen was brilliant and my husband loved doing the cooking there. We had no problems with the Wi Fi and TVs. We used both extensively during our stay. We had plenty of hot water with only a slight problem with the thermostat on the downstairs shower. We mostly used the upstairs one instead. The gentleman who lives opposite was very helpful and gave us advice re the walk to the lovely beach. We also had a nice chat to him as we left. We would certainly consider a repeat booking in the future. I understand that the previous reviewer had problems but I wanted to balance it out with our experience.

All the beds were really comfy (the downstairs facilities were really good for my mum who finds stairs difficult to manage). The kitchen was better equipped than most homes. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. (Food at the Widdrington Inn was excellent followed by walks on the beach at Druridge Bay).

  • "Booked and paid in full for another cottage at first."

Then phone call to say it wasn’t available. Had to choose a different cottage. Was told a selection would be emailed but they didn’t appear. Chose myself and transferred the booking. Sykes covered the slight extra cost. Confirmation said it had been booked but I still owed the outstanding amount and if it wasn’t paid for I would lose that booking. Had to ring again and get this sorted out. Accommodation itself was to a high standard but on a developing housing estate so it looked like a building site as we approached so not exactly what we would have chosen, especially at that price. We are unlikely to return there as a result.

  • "There were some lovely touches - some wine, biscuits and fresh milk but no kitchen towel (only tea towels which I use for drying crockery etc) and only one small shower towel per person."

Personally I found it awkward having to go out through a side door with the dog on a lead and going round the side of the house to the garden gate before letting her off in the garden rather than opening a door and just letting her out. I will view pictures, small print etc more closely and ask questions if I were ever to book a cottage again.

  • "Lovely house, good facilities."

Very comfortable, especially happy with the beds. Plenty of room to spread out and two fully equipped bathrooms, that as no photos, was my only worry. Nice bottle of wine and packet of biscuits were left as a welcome. A couple of slight repair issues, gap in the corner of the upstairs double room wall, couple of “unfinished” areas, that for the sake of a quick repair, would make it exceptional. Due to weather warnings, we decided to leave a day early, but would definitely consider a return visit.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
