  • "We thought the location was great and house was large and spacious and was perfect for us."

The abundance of hot water and fluffy towels were very welcome after days activities. Our suggestions to improve the experience are to remove the abundance of pot pourri. In addition, to consider updating the main bathroom which was looking, and feeling, a little shabby. Finally, a fluorescent/warning strip on the small step into the kitchen would highlight it and minimise any potential trips. We are happy for the first paragraph to be publicly viewed but that the remainder are small issues which should not be viewed as complaints.

Dear Theresa, thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed staying at our house and found it perfect for your stay. Thank you for the nice comments about the fluffy towels and abundance of hot water. We note your comments about the pot pourri and the main bathroom. Whilst we acknowledge your right to comment on the property, we would like to advise you that we have had numerous guests staying at Seaview Cottage over recent years and you are the first person to mention that the main bathroom needed updating. It is an old house and we feel the bathroom is clean and airy and is in keeping with the age of the property. There is a "lighthouse lamp" on the table next to the small step leading to the kitchen and we always leave this on to ensure guests are aware of the step. Unfortunately your whole review was published so I felt I should respond accordingly. Kind Regards Peter & Patricia. Property Owner

  • "Have used Sykes Cottage many times and this stay was as expected."

The cottage was meticulously clean and comfortable and was a treat away for my wife's 50th. Only a very short walk to the sea and a couple of great seafood restaurants (as seen on TV Hairy Bikers) Arriving late evening on a cold day a lovely touch was that on arrival the heating was on and a few lights that made a great start to our stay. Enjoyed day trips out visiting nearby places of interest such as Holy Island. Will very probably be staying here again. Highly recommended.

Dear Charles, thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay to celebrate your wife’s birthday & thank you also for your recommendation. We are pleased that you liked the Cottage, its location to the sea, the nearby restaurants & the ability to visit local places of interest. We do hope that we can welcome you back to Seaview Cottage on another occasion. Kind Regards Peter & Patricia. Property Owner

The location is very handy for exploring both the town and the wider area. We were lucky with the weather and particularly enjoyed the local nature reserves along Druridge Bay and the beautiful beaches nearby. The house is lovely and spacious and we found the kitchen to be very well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

Dear Mia We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Seaview Cottage & thank you for posting your review & for awarding us the maximum review score. • "Behind the chest of draws in the front largest bedroom hadn’t been cleaned, it was full of dust and looked like hadn’t been moved for months (I know this is nothing to do with the owners)."

To hoover behind despite there being a large gap. The hoover wasn’t the best at hoovering. Other then this it is lovely accommodation and I will be booking again excellent lay out for a disabled person with the downstairs bathroom. Very spacious accommodation no problem with parking. It was wonderful to have the facilities to play music around the home. Instead of having the tv on the all the time, the firestick was a bonus for the days it wet and windy. Ideal location and all amenities close by.

Dear Danielle, thank you for posting your review. We are obviously disappointed hearing about the dust you found behind the chest of drawers in the main bedroom, we will get in touch with Northumbria Coast & County Cottages about this as they do the cleaning on our behalf. The “Henry” hoover shouldn’t have any difficulty in hoovering around the property, unless the dust bag is full. We will also mention this to NC&CC. Other than these issues, it appears you enjoyed your stay at Seaview Cottage & found everything to your satisfaction. We look forward to welcoming you back on another occasion. • "Spacious house for 4 adults in a fantastic location, just a stroll to the harbour side."

We had no issues parking on the road with 2 cars. The living room and bedrooms are comfy and the kitchen is well equipped. Plenty space to spread out so we weren't in each others' pockets. The photos are accurate, which says more than my typing! The yard is small but sheltered. It feels homey rather than a bespoke holiday rental flip and we would happily stay again. Amble is a great location to relax. Plenty places to eat and drink, with a small high street with some independent shops. It's right on the coast path for walkers, has beaches and also a nearby nature reserve in walking distance (2 miles, also driveable). Alnwick, Alnmouth and Warkworth are easy to get to by car or bus. I would have scored 5 for facilities, but I can see from previous reviews that the pulsing light in the bedroom has been reported and not addressed. This could be a real issue for an epileptic or someone else triggered by strobe-like lights. There are also only 2 outdoor chairs (noted by several people in the paper guestbook). I'd guessed this from the pictures, so took extra with us. The upstairs shower could do with a deep clean as the showerhead is black. Cleaning supplies are given in a wee box and only really cover washing up. Some surface cleaner would help keep the kitchen as clean as when we arrived, as the sink stains easily with tea. None of this spoiled our holiday, but they're very easy fixes.

Dear Kate, thank you for posting your review and the nice comments you made about your stay. We note your comments about the flickering lights in the back bedroom and would like to inform you that we have contacted an electrician to change the light switch, but he hasn't be able to get into the house and it has had guests in the house since we first informed him. I will ask NC&CC to look at the problem with the shower head in the bathroom as they take care of the house cleaning for us. Apart from the points you raised in your review it would appear that you enjoyed staying at Seaview Cottage and you also enjoyed your visits to the surrounding areas. Kind Regards Peter & Patricia. • "The cottage was lovely and comfortable, clean and tidy with all the pots pans cutlery etc that you could ever need."

The Wi-Fi worked well as did all the other electrical items. Amble was a good place from which to explore the area. One small thing, I think the light bulbs in the back bed room are the wrong ones for the dimmer switch as they flickered all the time, it wasn't a problem as we used the bedside light instead. Would definitely recommend the property.

Dear Norman, we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Seaview Cottage and found everything to your liking. Amble is a great place to base yourself to tour the area and it also has some lovely walks itself in the immediate vicinity. Sorry to hear about the flickering lights in the back bedroom when using the dimmer switch, this is the first time we have heard about this issue and we will get our electrician to look at the problem. Thank you for your recommendation and we do hope that we can welcome you back to Seaview Cottage on another occasion. Kind Regards Peter & Patricia. Property Owner
