The Torrs Apartments

A group of three lovely first floor apartments, lovingly converted and renovated from a building which was formerly a grand old pub called The Torrs, on the outskirts of the small town of New Mills in the Derbyshire Peak District. A great place for groups of four to eighteen people to spend time exploring this delightful part of the country. The apartments are furnished with a tasteful range of furniture and are accessed via an external staircase. The bedrooms enjoy plenty of light and both the kitchen and bathroom have been modernised. From the front door of your lovely apartments, you are within minutes of great real ale pubs, cafés, independent shops, artisan market stalls and restaurants offering cuisine from every continent. The ground floor of the property houses The Butterfly House, a very cool coffee shop, café, deli and bar. New Mills is set in an area of spectacular natural beauty and you can take a stroll along the award-winning Millennium Walkway to where the River Sett joins the River Goyt. Linked to this is the Sett Valley Trail leading to Hayfield, a small picturesque village situated at the foot of Kinder Scout. The Peak Forest Canal towpath links with hundreds of miles of footpaths and allows easy access to the 16 locks of Marple, as well as to the restored Bugsworth Basin. These apartments are perfectly placed to explore the attractions of the Peak District National Park, and with a mainline station very close by, the vibrant cities of Manchester and Sheffield are easily accessible without having to worry about parking the car. This group of apartments has endless possibilities whenever you stay.

About the location

NEW MILLS

Chapel en le Frith 5 miles; Buxton 11 miles.

New Mills is a small town situated on the borders of North West Derbyshire and Cheshire, forming part of the Derbyshire Peak District. Dating back to the 13th century, the late 20th century saw the Torrs Riverside Park (‘the park under the town’) come into being a place for recreation and relaxation, along with the New Mills Heritage Centre, opened to promote tourism in the area. The Torrs Millennium Walkway, a much-admired bridge, is set deep in the gorge and attracts many visitors, while Chapel en le Frith, the Capital of the Peaks, is only 5 miles away, boasting a cobbled market place and historic old stocks. Within easy driving distance is the delightful spa town of Buxton, famous not only for its therapeutic spring water, but also for its Pavillion Gardens and splendid Victorian Opera House, which boasts a variety of shows, attracting people from all over the world. Within easy driving distance are the Blue John show caves at Castleton, the Chestnut Centre Otter & Owl Sanctuary, and many stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Lyme Hall. You could even leave your car behind as there are direct rail links to Manchester, the Hope Valley and Sheffield. An ideal base for exploring the whole of the Peak District.
