  • "We had a lovely weekend stay at Hazel Cottage, with our daughter and family, age range 60 to 6 months."

    The property was clean and renovated to a high standard. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms large and well equipped. We had a wet and blustery stay but we were warm and cosy even without the log burner, which had plenty of available wood. The facilities were great, we cooked a Sunday lunch and had everything we needed. We didn't venture far this time but the cottage is well located for visiting many places within the Peak District. Lovely welcome package and Sally and David were very welcoming and helpful. My only regret is only booking for the weekend!!

  • "We had a really great stay at Hazel Cottage - the buildings are lovely and the conversion done is beautiful."

    There were only a few minor improvements/adjustments we thought of - as we were a party of 6 adults and a baby, we did find the sofa not really big enough to sit us all in an evening when we wanted to sit in front of the gorgeous log burner and catch up with each other. We also found the water pressure in both the showers was very low. Other than this, everything was there when we looked for it when cooking, the underfloor heating was nice and toasty, no problems with parking and the location was good for exploring around the area.

  • "Such a beautiful accommodation, very spacious, clean and kitted out with everything you need."

    The flowers and welcome pack were welcomed. Very quiet surrounds and the owners were very nice. Visiting from Australia we found the narrow lanes amusing to us but the English drivers were very courteous. Would stay again and would recommend.

  • "We had a lovely time at Hazel Cottage."

    It has been beautifully renovated and we really appreciated how well designed and equipped it was. It worked really well for our family of six. The only slight negative was the single track roads surrounding the property. We found arriving and leaving quite stressful in our 7 seater hire car. We visited in August but this would put me off returning during the Winter. Otherwise, Folds Yard is a beautiful place for a family holiday.

    The apartment was spacious,clean and comfortable. Ideal place to explore from. Tranquil surroundings so lovely and peaceful.   • "What a lovely property!"

    Hazel Cottage is one of the larger properties in this complex of 8 farm building conversions. The property, along with the others, are all new this season and we were very pleased with the facilities on offer. Sally was a lovely host and very attentive. All round, a very nice property to stay in. With the property being on a working farm, it was nice to hear the cows in the nearby fields and be able to feed them grass. The cottage was a great base for visiting Matlock, Heights of Abraham, Denby Pottery Store, Wirksworth, Derbyshire Dales, etc. We would recommend a visit to White Peak Distillery and eating at La Mistral in Wirksworth for a high quality French meal.

The Fold Yard

The Fold Yard is an exceptional collection of eight properties that were originally constructed between 1895 and 1900. These lovely properties rest on a working farm amongst the scenic hills of Alderwasley, Derbyshire. Each of these has a wonderful farm-themed interior, private patios and an excellent location close to the Peak District National Park. Alderwasley is renowned for beautiful walks through Shining Cliff woods and the Midshires Way runs through the village near to Fold Yards. ALDERWASLEY

Wirksworth 2 miles; Belper 7 miles.

Alderwasley is a scattered area of farms and a couple of local pubs located in lovely rolling countryside with undisturbed views for miles, on the southern borders of the Peak District National Park. Nearby Wirksworth is a small, charming market town on the edge of the White Peak, and is full of character, with many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient "jitties" and courtyards, and the National Stone Centre, as well as the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there is good walking all around. Well Dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and Wirksworth combines this tradition with a lively carnival. The annual Arts festival attracts international performers of every kind. Close to Alderwasley is Belper which is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th Century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds true today. Now a spirited and bustling town, attractions include the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. Beautiful Chatsworth House, Shottle Hall and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as well as Matlock Bath with its spectacular cable car, the newly restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver's Kingdom. Only 2 miles away, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is not to be missed. A great location for a varied holiday.
