"A delightful cottage with access to a well established garden, and walks across open fields."
Plenty of room in the kitchen and sitting areas, and useful utensils, though the fridge could have benefited from a freezer compartment. Excellent walk in shower, comfortable bed and plenty of easy access storage for clothing. Cardington is a delightful village with a good pub serving excellent meals and beers.

"The cottage was very charming and pretty set in a lovely quiet village."
Once inside it was very evident that the property hadn’t been cleaned. There was a lot of dog fur balls under the table and under the bed. The sofa had dog fur on it although covered in a throw. The sofa itself was very uncomfortable and could do with being replaced. A couple of kitchen cupboard fronts were dirty, the table cloth had food spillages on it along with a tablet left loose on the table. There was broken glass under the chairs and table. The toilet and toilet floor area was dirty and smelt of urine. One shower wall had brown marks over it. I did have to clean before we could settle in and enjoy our break. The bedroom was lovely. The bed was comfortable and with the windows open had a lovely breeze. It was stated that there was on site parking but there isn’t, you are asked to park at the village hall, just a small walk away.
Having said all of the above the cottage was charming and we enjoyed our time there. The welcome pack was very generous and a lovely touch. It’s just a shame I had to take time out of my holiday to clean.

"We had a lovely stay at New Inn Cottage."
It's a cosy, clean, comfortable place for two people (plus a dog). The location is beautiful, in a quiet village with friendly locals and lots of places for walking or visiting local towns.
The only downside is that the heating is not easily controlled and it did get quite warm on the first night making it difficult to sleep at first. We would definitely book New Inn Cottage again

"It was a lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location."
We had everything we needed and lots of peace and quiet but not too far from local amenities in nearby towns. The old village pub was gorgeous with fabulous food and would highly recommend. The cottage layout was very quaint and the bedroom was very roomy with a great comfortable king-size bed. We enjoyed this 4 day break immensely. Thank you.

"Cosy cottage in a quiet village with an excellent local pub."
Generous welcome package. Ideal location for walkers. A torch should be available. We had a power outage during our stay but fortunately had brought a candle jar and torch.
1. The settee is past its best and urgently needs replacing.
2. No blinds or curtains on ground‑floor windows, and therefore a lack of privacy.
PLEASE NOTE:
Parking is NOT onsite. It is at the local village hall.
The ensuite bathroom has no door, just a curtain.

"Fantastic accommodation."
Warm, cozy and clean. Lovely welcome pack provided by the owner Sue the owner. Sue is at hand if you need anything, she even popped in and showed me how to use the Aga. The log fire was lovely in the evening, and you can help yourself to logs in longstore. The local pub is very friendly and food is very good. Lots of lovely walks and areas to visit. We visited Church Stretton, Ludlow and Carding Mill Valley. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to return ourselves

"Absolutely charming little cottage, just perfect for a country escape for 2 adults."
The cottage is very cosy, warm and welcoming. Cardington is a beautiful little village, very quiet, with stunning countryside on its doorstep. We also enjoyed some very good food at the cosy village pub! Thank you for the lovely complimentary fresh bread etc. The only things that would have been helpful next time are: bin bags, kitchen roll & cooking oil. He smart TV was also rather useless and exceptionally slow, so I would recommend a replacement ! We just plugged in our laptops to the tv screen.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Thank you!

"New Inn is a small one bedroom cottage with an en suite."
It was spotless on arrival ,comfortable and very quiet ,warmed by the aga oven? Perfect for my needs and complimented by the Royal Oak pub 200 yds away ( closed mon and Tues) which served good plentiful food.Walks on the doorstep 20 mins easy drive to CardingMill Valley. One downside was a solid oak support near to bed ,watch out for that in the dark.
Easy to recommend a lovely little cottage for a break

"We at New Inn Cottage for nine days in late June 2025."
Cardington is a gorgeous village - perfectly located with proximity to Church Stretton. The village is three miles from any A road via single track roads ... exactly what you want for a lovely country setting. The pub is lovely and has varied opening/closing times (check in with them to learn their schedule during your stay). The cottage itself is nice and the shower was really very good. There is a small refrigerator, but no freezer.
New Inn Cottage is nice, but the cottage was ill-prepared for visitors - strange since it appears to have been operating for some time. When we arrived, we faced the following problems (each of which should have been resolved prior to our arrival): 1) there were seven (7!) light bulbs out inside the cottage, 2) there was pet hair/hair/dust bunnies under the bed 3) The supports under the bed were ajar and not supporting the center of the bed 4) there were no remotes in the cottage for the two DVD players (some functions of a DVD can only be accessed with a remove, e.g. subtitles), 5) there were no instructions at all about how to operate the Aga.
While all of these issues might have been resolved if we had contacted the person listed in the welcome book, the point is that every one of these should have been resolved prior to every guest's arrival. One would expect that the owner (or the company Sykes Cottages) would be doing a better job at consistent quality assurance. These were significant issues for an expensive self-catering cottage.
One item worth noting is that the Aga is the only method of cooking available in the cottage. Because our stay was in late June, we experienced hot weather (day and night). That would be fine, but adding to that an Aga that was always on (low setting) and was also heating the cottage, we had no instructions about how to turn it off and there was no alternative to use for cooking (e.g. a microwave). We did eventually figure out how to turn it off/on thanks to YouTube videos.

"Lovely cottage, well maintained and beautifully done."
If you were to be cooking, I am sure the large aga would be fantastic.
For us though, a microwave would have been helpful, as we did not cook full meals but needed to heat food quickly. Also, again in the winter the aga would be great for heating the cosy cottage. But we were there in late May, and found we were a bit hot, even with all the windows open. An addition of a fan , especially in the bedroom would help.
But we had a lovely time, and will recommend it to friends and family.

"A very cosy cottage in a quiet village with walks from the door."
A good welcome pack of goodies. A great pub (dog friendly) within walking distance. The cottage is very warm with its Aga and very well equipped (but note no icebox or teapot!) No door between the bathroom and bedroom was odd but not an issue if you’re a couple who know each other very well as we did! Parking is in the village hall around the corner which always has lots of room. A sunny garden (not enclosed if you have a dog) was a great place to sit with a cuppa. Church Stretton is very close by with access to the Long Mynd and other walks of this beautiful area. We will return.

"We had a great stay in a lovely cottage - however there are 2 areas that would stop us from returning unless rectified."
1. The sofa in the living area need replacing as it is extremely uncomfortable and we note complaints about this go back to 2019 in the guest book.
2. Why is there no door to the bathroom and toilet area ? We dont think this would be an issue if access was to a shower room only but the toilet is also there.
Cardington itself is very picturesque and the local pub The Royal Oak is excellent and only 2 minutes walk from the cottage.
We found the locals very friendly and engaging and the Shropshire hills wonderful walking country.
The welcome pack from Sue Tyrell was very much appreciated as was the constant supply of logs for the wood burner.
All in all a brilliant break apart from the 2 points already noted above and we would definitely recommend and return once the negatives above are rectified..
