  • "First impressions on arrival to the property were good."

    Communication with the owner over a couple of issues were needed and responded to. The house is getting worn and needs updating in some areas. Mattresses weren't comfortable in the smaller ensuite or the twin room, and pillows were very soft and thin. As we chose a very hot week, having to sleep with windows open, being so close to a main road and freight track could be noisy at times. There are lots of walks available from the house, with maps and details provided which was helpful.

  • "This is a 100% honest & true review."

    We booked the above cottage for Easter weekend through Sykes. While we had a lovely time when we were there it has been a nightmare since we got back. The owner has made a number of allegations, the main ones being that we used coal in a log burner, I have stated many times & will continue to do so that at no time during our stay did we use the log burner. We have also been accused of taking a key, we don’t have the key. Sykes have been awful to deal with, almost impossible to speak to anyone & very mixed information when I did. They have taken the £500 bond within 2 days of our return, they have no interest in what we have to say & have said we will have to go through a small claims court if we want to pursue the matter. No evidence has been provided by way of pictures or receipts. We will never book through Sykes again

  • "A lovely, comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage."

    It had everything we needed and the pool table / table tennis was very popular. There was some great walking straight from the cottage, but Mam Tor and Castleton were only a 15 minute drive away. I had a couple of questions for Richard, the owner, and he responded very quickly both times. Would happily stay here again.

  • "The accommodation is spacious, cosy and very well equipped."

    The location is ideal not too far from the main attractions. The games room is a great addition keeping the children, adults also, well occupied throughout the stay. Parking is ideal with an electric charger facility and extra parking spaces across the road. Only feedback I would give is the mattresses were uncomfortable with the springs being felt through. All family members agreed perhaps memory foam toppers need to be used if they will not be replaced, hence the 4 stars. I would recommend this cottage to all and would come back again. The owner was also very quick with responding back to messages which was helpful.

  • "Very spacious, comfortable and finished to a high standard."

    The games room was great and used by everyone. Well placed for local walks from the doorstep and visits to nearby towns or trails on the peaks. Proximity to the road didn’t affect us. One or two minor maintenance items cropped up but had no impact on our stay.

  • "The house was large and great for the 6 adults in our group."

    Good outside space too. The shops and pubs are about a 15 minute walk away. There is a bit of road noise if the windows are open. One of the double beds was very soft and sagged into the middle.

  • "A beautiful home in outstanding surroundings."

    This was the perfect place for a break, the children loved the games room, which included pool and table tennis. The garden was great for the dogs and the kitchen/diner was a fabulous family room. There were so many walks suitable for the little ones, right on the doorstep. The owner was very quick with communication and extremely helpful. If we ever needed a place to stay like this again, we would definitely rebook!

  • "Lovely large property in a great location."

    Loved the pool table - best one we’ve had at a holiday rental. Kitchen is a real hub, which we loved. The WiFi is fantastic so teens were more than happy! Overall we couldn’t fault our stay. We’d happily return.

  • "This house is great for extended families or groups of friends, plenty of space and the numerous bathrooms really make it work well, lovely house with everything you will need, comfortable beds and all of the house is spotless."

    lovely outside area and ample parking off the road. Situated in a superb area for exploring the Peaks with many walks from the doorstep or a short drive away. We had a wonderful time even the teenagers enjoyed it.

  • "What a fabulous property, spacious, clean, well maintained with all the necessary appliances."

    Great garden area. The EV charger is a bonus, wake up to a fully charged car every morning. Located in Chapel Milton, an ideal base to explore the local area. Richard the owner was very helpful. If you get a chance to stay here you will not be disappointed!!

  • "We found the accommodation to be clean, spacious and comfortable."

    The kitchen was well equipped. The location is good to access attractions in the area. The addition of a little games table in one room and a good sized garden was excellent. Any issues we had were dealt with promptly by the owner.

    The cottage is clean and spacious. We were 2 families with 3 kids and had plenty of room for the kids to play around and for us all to dine together. The garden was great for the kids to run around in. The area has so much to offer kids and adults including river paddles,

Homestead is a charming detached holiday home resting in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.

This four-bedroom property sleeps eight and boasts a woodburning stove, EV charging point, and games room, making it suited for a family and one well-behaved pet.

Return from your adventures and settle into the snug or sitting room, staying toasty by the woodburning stove and entertained by a Smart TV.

Assist the chef from the island as they whip up supper in a spacious kitchen/diner, equipped with an electric range oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge, fridge/freezer, and wine chiller, before digging in at a dining table for eight.

CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH

Buxton 7 miles.

Chapel-en-le-Frith is known as the Capital of the Peaks, it has an historic core including a cobbled market place and historic old stocks. There are a range of independent shops and services, including supermarkets and award-winning cafes and restaurants.
Chapel is home to one of the Peak District's principal traditional carnivals held in June and also a well dressing festival. May Day celebrations also take place in the market place.
There is an Old Town Trail which is a free self-guided walking tour of Chapel's historic centre, featuring the 13th Century Church of St. Thomas Becket, 18th Century Church Brow and the traditional Market Place with stocks and ancient cross.
Just four miles away lies the spa town of Buxton, famous not only for its therapeutic spring water, but also for its Pavilion Gardens and splendid Victorian Opera House, and which boasts a variety of shows, attracting people from all over the world.
A short drive away are an abundance of attractions including the Blue John Cavern, Kinder Scout and the castle at Castleton. There are many stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Lyme Hall all within easy reach.
Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way and Snake Path are easily accessible by a short drive as is the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills.
Edale – an alternative start of the Pennine Way - is only a few miles away.
