  • "I cannot find enough words to describe how amazing our stay at Barncroft was."

    The property was just perfect in every way, very clean, high spec and the views incredible. We went with our family and there was ten of us 6 adults, 4 children and 2 doggies. Every single one of us including the dogs felt very relaxed and at home and there was plenty of space for all our needs. I quite honestly could have stayed in the house all week and not gone out anywhere. My only disappointment was that I wanted to book it for the same week next year and it was already booked up

  • "⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Perfect – Luxury, Comfort, and Stunning Views Our stay at Barncroft in Tansley was nothing short of perfection."

    From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the elegance and quality of this beautiful property. The attention to detail in both the design and furnishings gave it a true sense of luxury, yet it still felt wonderfully homely and comfortable. The panoramic views from the dining area are simply breathtaking – waking up each morning to such scenery was an absolute joy. Whether enjoying a coffee at sunrise or a glass of wine in the evening, the ever-changing landscape was captivating. Inside, every space felt thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation. The living room, with its plush seating and cosy atmosphere, made it hard to leave the house at all. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep after exploring the local area. It’s rare to find a place that combines high-end style, immaculate cleanliness, and genuine comfort so seamlessly – but Barncroft does exactly that. This is without a doubt one of the finest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in, and we cannot wait to return.

  • "Excellent property, we have stayed in several Sykes cottages over the years and this property just about tops the lot."

    The owners have done an excellent job with the property and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had sunny weather every day and were able to take in the brilliant views from the jacuzzi, outside seating and dining room picture window. We would definitely recommend this property to others and will be very keen to return in future

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barncroft."

    The cottage is very comfortably and fitted out to a very high standard. The only very slight downside was the kitchen equipment, for example we couldn't find a cheese grater. But overall the property is excellent.

  • "Beautiful accommodation, stylish, comfortable with excellent fixtures and fittings ."

    Very clean and well maintained. A lovely setting,close to the village and a short journey to Matlock and Matlock Bath. A dustpan would be a useful addition. A brush is provided. Would definitely return.

  • "One of the cleanest, most perfect UK stays in a while."

    There was a family of 9 and everyone was more than happy with our stay. The views around the property were spectacular, the rooms were very spacious and every room was incredibly clean and comfortable no matter where you were. There isn’t a bad thing to say about the property. Sipping a coffee outside and seeing a deer run across the adjacent fields was spectacular. Barncroft was a wonderful place and would 100% recommend to anyone. The family even suggested around going for Christmas if it wasn’t already booked!

  • "Amazing time ."

    Weather was great .Tansley tan. Lovely bungalow , lots of space for everyone .. good quality furnishings with high spec appliances. Only 6 chairs to outside table, there was 10 of us ..

  • "Beautiful property, thoughtfully furnished."

    We visited for a creative retreat and it was the perfect location for reading, thinking, and inspiring discussions. The views are stunning, and enjoying them from the hot tub and the dining table was a daily treat. The bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen and bathrooms are comfortable, clean and modern. Would definitely book again.

  • "This place was perfect in every way!"

    So spacious, perfect lay out and so clean. We took our dog and he loved it… especially laying in front of the fire place! Depending on your dog, you may have to keep them on the lead as there’s no fencing or gating, and there’s a huge field next to the property, but it wasn’t an issue for us personally. The kitchen had everything we needed so were able to cook a full English breakfast & a Sunday roast! The rooms were so spacious and beds were so comfy! The location is perfect, less than a 5 minute walk to The Tansley pub serving the most delicious food and just a short drive into Matlock & Matlock Bath. We were also able to order a takeaway and have it delivered to us from China Rose, again would recommend! We immediately booked to go back next year during our stay, we all loved it that much! 10/10!

  • "We had a wonderful few days at Barncroft."

    The cottage was amazing, finished to a very high standard - super comfortable, well stocked and beautifully decorated - a real home from home vibe. Location also perfect. No real negatives at all......below are just some thoughts we had during our stay that might help for future. (We were a group of 6 women, so you may get a different perspective from other groups.) 1. No scissors (surprising how often you need them when there aren't any :) ) 2. We weren't sure whether we were expected to recycle? If any 'rules' guests should abide by, maybe mention in the welcome note. 3. We couldn't find the switches for the outside lighting 4. Advise guests where the Neff oven instructions are.....my friends had me to help as I have neff so no issues but others may not be familiar 5. Not sure if you need to have some kind of mat near the door that guests should use to protect the wooden flooring when coming in from the hot tub. We put towels down as we were worried the wood would warp. 6. Maybe consider plastic glasses for use round the hot tub and also for children in general. 7. Finally, and maybe an obvious one, but a note to request shoes off at the front door might be an idea to help protect the carpets. Overall 10/10. Thank you to the owners for helping us make our New Year so memorable and hope to book again soon.

MATLOCK

Matlock Bath 1 mile; Bakewell 8 miles.

The small, rural village of Tansley is peacefully situated in the Derbyshire Dales, just 2 miles from Matlock and is home to two welcoming pubs and several colourful garden centres. The county town of Matlock is just 2 miles away and was popular from 1698 until 1950 for its warm springs that provided water therapy to travellers from near and far. Today the town provides a host of fine eateries, good shops, a fascinating museum and at the heart of the town, Leys Hall Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities including bowls, mini golf, tennis, boating and a children’s play area. Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver's Kingdom with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge. The nearby High Peak Cycle Trail provides a wonderful experience, whilst the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall are within easy reach.
