    We had a lovely stay at The Old Apothecary, the shop is delightful too. Matlock Bath is a quirky little place, we would recommend a visit to the Heights of Abraham. The views from the top are amazing!

  • "A bit chilly the first couple of days but heating did kick in towards the end of our stay - could do with some long tall glasses - we brought a few cans with us ."

    Especially good if you want to use Public transport like we did, as station and bus stops are nearby. Right near the centre of Matlock bath, but far enough to not be near too many people. Charming old building with plenty of space, 2 lounges and 3 toilets!

  • "We had a wonderful stay at The Old Apothecary."

    The house was warm and inviting with some extra touches that were so welcoming and very much appreciated. The house was clean and comfortable and perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area. Our contact person was incredibly helpful and always available to offer assistance and recommendations. The only minor issue was the lack of large cooking pans for our family of four. I'm really nitpicking here though as the property was pretty much perfect. Should we return to the UK I would have no hesitation in booking this property again.

  • "A lovely property but our experience was really disappointing."

    We arrived on the Friday evening and stayed until late on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, there was no hot water in the property for the entire weekend. When raised with the service number provided on the Saturday, we were told an engineer would be contacted. Then we received a text to say that the engineer could not attend the property that day as he was attending a 60th birthday party and would arrive in the morning (Sunday) instead. We waited but left the property at 1130 hrs as our check out time was 1200 noon. Upon contacting the service people again to say the engineer had not arrived, the excuse given was that the town was full of tourists and he couldn’t find parking. Awful customer service and really, really disappointing. The owner additionally refused a partial refund due to the inconvenience caused.

    We would point out the lack of hot water wasn’t reported until after 6pm on Saturday evening, you were due to check out the following morning, had this been reported on arrival or even the following morning, it would have been sorted straight away. A plumber was contacted on the Saturday evening and DID attend the property on Sunday. We have installed a new Air heating system and to ensure this doesn’t happen again we are now in the process of changing the controller. We’re not sure why you left at 12 noon when check out is 9.30 am. If you were offered a late check out by Sykes this may have been to compensate for the lack of hot water on your last night.   • "Lovely well equipped property in the heart of all the action ."

    Spacious with lots of Traditional character with a modern twist. The welcome gifts on arrival were such a nice touch as well as the little soaps in the bathrooms from the Apothecary shop downstairs. The two ladies we met in the shop were so helpful and friendly and they have everything you could imagine. Our daughter found herself in there most days making a purchase. The outdoor area was also a great space and perfect for our dog. Parking was also easy just over the road at the train station , we purchased the rover pass. There is plenty to do on your doorstep as well as either side of Matlock bath . Would definitely like to return and would recommend.

  • "Excellent place to stay."

    The location was ideal as we were right into the middle of the village. Plenty of small cafes and fish and chip shops although, strangely, no convenience store in the centre. There was, though, a large Sainsbury’s in Matlock itself so no real problem there. Parking (7 day pass £32) was at the train station just a few minutes away. The property itself was lovely, comfy beds, large bedrooms, two reception rooms and a large dining kitchen with all mod cons. We found ir very homely. There was also a very welcome pack of milk, teabags and delicious biscuits to greet us as well as lovely soaps in the bathrooms from the Apothecary shop downstairs. All in all we had a lovely holiday. We hope to be back again sometime. Rooms

  • "Superb apartment, full of character and charm, in a fantastic location."

    Beautifully clean, large rooms with high ceilings, well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, luxurious standalone bath. Welcome pack of tea, coffee and biscuits, also some sauce sachets. Couple of suggestions for improvement - only one pan provided (and a frying pan), could do with a colander and salt n pepper. Difficult to unlock the bottom lock on the front door (although it locks easily with the same key!)

  • "A lovely spacious, clean and comfortable apartment in a great location."

    We loved our stay and would definitely stay here again - really comfortable beds, nice showers and the kitchen had everything we needed. The outside space is lovely too and was great for our dog. We loved the big windows and balcony at the front overlooking the river. The location is great for walking to cafes and restaurants and it is really easy to use the train and buses to get to Matlock for lots more. Parking in the station car park is just a few minutes away and really cheap. There were nice welcome touches and it was nice to be able to visit the Old Apothecary shop below to get a feel for the history of the place.
