“The owner texted before arrival with details of the key collection.”

The house is along a single lane just the house and a farm at the end. Hiring over New Year this could have been an issue if it had snowed, but we had no issues at all. Even got a shopping delivery and a take away and both managed to get to the house no problems. On arrival the house was lovely and warm and plenty of logs to burn over our 4 days. As said the house is along the end of a lane so very quiet - perfect for us. Fantastic set of walks from the house with the dogs. Views from the house ...

As said the house is along the end of a lane so very quiet - perfect for us. Fantastic set of walks from the house with the dogs. Views from the house are amazing and on New Years Eve we were able to watch the fireworks across the valley - wow! The Bull's Head pub is a 12 minute walk (with children and dogs) down the single track. Did it many times and only encountered traffic once so pretty safe. The pub is very friendly and the food is delicious - it's dog friendly too! All in all a very enjoyable New Year Break!

About the location

TINTWISTLE

Glossop 2 miles.

The millstone grit village of Tintwistle, 2 miles from Glossop, often dubbed the "Gateway to the Peaks", is skirted on three sides by the Peak District National Park and is renowned for the moorlands of the Dark Peak. Accessed via the infamous Snake Pass, this most attractive area houses some fine 17th and 18th Century cottages. Bottoms Reservoir is in the centre of the village, providing the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll. Follow Doctor's Gate Roman road to Kinder Scout and Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, or the Snake Pass to Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, where the famous Dambusters Squadron practiced. The nearby bustling town of Glossop provides plentiful shops, pubs and restaurants together with a superb 18 hole golf course and is surrounded by some of the most magnificent Peak District scenery. With the pretty spa town of Buxton and the picturesque Hope Valley, home to Castleton Castle and Caves, both within easy reach, this is a wonderful location offering plenty to see and do.
