  • "We actually left the property 3 days earlier than we had booked for and emailed Sykes to let them know, but have not had a reply to date."

    We were very sorry that we had to leave early, as after a parent's death, we really needed a break. We felt that nothing really worked properly except for the oven. There were problems with the taps in the kitchen as they only dribbled out very slowly, and there was grit and sand in the water coming out of the hot tap in the bathroom. We tried the shower twice, but despite moving the control slowly up and down, it was literally either scalding or cold. These problems were shown to the owner as we left. My usually very easy‑going husband said this was the worst shower he had ever used. Due to these 3 problems all preventing the use of hot water, I was unable to wash my hair or have a 'basin wash'. I also scratched my glasses as I clean them with hot water every morning. The last straw was the windiness on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning that kept us awake, as it sounded like the solar panels were going to fly off, so we decided at 5am to pack up and leave. The coffee machine only seems to dispense an inch of liquid no matter what setting you have it on, and I did look up the instructions on the internet so we weren’t doing anything incorrectly. The dining bench is like a brick, so we sat on cushions, and the settees are so soft we needed to sit on two pillows so as not to feel like our bottoms were on the floor almost. The smart TV is a nice idea, but you can only watch live programmes as it buffers all the time on ‘red button’ viewing (perhaps have a dedicated hub for the WiFi). And to be honest, we think the owner should warn people in advance of the state of the 'road', not 10 minutes before arrival time. AND this should be in the description of the cottage, SYKES. We had only picked our 26‑registration car up 5 days before we arrived and would have gone in our older car had we known earlier to enable us to manoeuvre through the massive dirty potholes filled with water on both sides of the track. I also bought some forks as the ones supplied seemed to be very blunt and wouldn’t even pierce the lettuce in our salads! We were further disappointed to have only about 10 sheets of kitchen roll supplied and the end of a roll of foil. Not essential, but usually part of the package. Top marks for cleanliness as everyone says

    Hello, so sorry you had so many issues and we were surprised by your feedback. We were only aware that things was not to your liking when you were leaving, which is a pity as we didn’t have the opportunity to address anything. As it transpires there were simple fixes for the issue you encountered with the water. And as the notice in the house says, if you need anything replenished, you only have to ask. We have now replaced the quilt cover which we discovered a tear in once you had left the property - again, it would have been helpful for you to tell us that this had happened during your stay so we can maintain the high standards our guests are used to.   • "Lovely cottage, and very conveniently placed near the Byre at Inchyra where we were attending a wedding."

    The place was spotlessly clean. Owners very friendly and welcoming. We had booked for 3 guests staying and sadly there were only 2 towels provided, but other than that we were very comfortable.

  • "Absolutely stunning place to stay."

    Although internet access was good, would like it to have been better. However for where we were located it was very good. It’s a place we would happily go back to especially with the dogs being able to roam the secured garden. This was a great central point to explore many things within the area. Anyone thinking about staying in this area should make this a number one choice to stay.

  • "Great little holiday home."

    Was absolutely perfect for hubby, me, our girl and our dog. Perfect location for a base for us. Owners on hand to help with any issues. Only one was the sink blocked and was sorted immediately. Absolutely brilliant hosts. Would highly recommend. We would definitely use again.

    I’m sorry you were not completely satisfied with your stay with us. It is a pity that you didn’t mention some of the issues when we spoke to you during your stay, so we could have addressed them. Just to clarify, we do supply coffee pods for the coffee machine and the bathroom light is on a sensor in order to reduce energy consumption. It goes back on with any movement.
