  • "Highly recommended and would stay here again."

    Very cosy and in a great peaceful location with a great view of open fields at the back of the property. Welcome pack was great - must have known we liked everything they provided. The complimentary tea bags and coffee pods were another great bonus. Everything was clean, well presented and everything catered for. The only suggestion to enhance our stay would be better outdoor lighting it was poor especially around the steps at night/darkness. Solar lighting with sensor would be the ideal solution especially during the Autumn and Winter months.

  • "Excellent accommodation, no expense spared here, everything top quality."

    We didn’t have children with us but anyone who does, the amount of games and activities for children was exceptional. Marvellous welcome pack waiting for us and an incredible range of teas and coffees also supplied. Excellent holiday thank you.

  • "Could not fault the accommodation in any way whatsoever, beds very comfy,everything you could need was there,welcome pack was very nice too."

    ...Unfortunately 1st day of our holiday my dad fell & broke his hip & was taken to the Royal infirmary in Edinburgh its now Tuesday 8th July & he's still there,but we used the lodge as a base for going back n forth to the hospital....but no complaints whatsoever about the accommodation A+

  • "Beautiful lodge, warm, clean and very comfortable, in a quiet park which backs on to open field."

    The swimming pool is fairly small but clean and modern with steam room and jacuzzi. Didn't have time to try the gym. Lovely welcome pack on arrival, thank you. Hoping to return for another visit soon xx

  • "Lovely property, a quiet spot on the park with spectacular views of wildlife."

    Well equipped with lots of thoughtful extra touches like binoculars to watch the wildlife. Lots of storage space, great showers, the kitchen is really well equipped and the welcome basket was really generous and much appreciated. The only comfort issue was the mattress on the main bed which perhaps needs replacing/upgrading to match the levels of comfort and high spec elsewhere. Ideally located for lovely local spots like Dunbar and Belhaven and Edinburgh is an easy drive straight up the A1. The park wifi is a bit patchy at times but not unusable. I would definitely stay here again and had a really lovely week, thank you.

  • "Nearly everything superb."

    Best position in the holiday complex - quiet, very good looking out onto fields. Very clean. Well supplied with basic essentials - nice having coffee, tea, biscuits, irn bru. Only thing needed - better mattresses. Apart from mattresses, it was the best self catering place we have had.

  • "What a lovely lodge."

    Over the years we have landed in many a lodge/caravan and I can honestly say this was the nicest, most well equipped, cleanest lodge we've had the pleasure of staying in. Watching the wildlife happily going across the field and living their best life was an extra feather in woodpecker lodge's cap. Really pleasant location and handy for exploring the whole area. Helpful and friendly owners who were attentive when we encountered an issue.

  • "Beautiful location where we could watch wildlife running across the field, quite and so comfortable."

    A real gem, so happy we found it, can't recommend enough. We drove all over but there is a good train service, to see all the fabulous sights in the area.

  • "Lodge was very comfortable and clean."

    Slight issue with boiler pressure and so no heat. However, a quick call to owner and we were able to sort it with a few simple instructions. No toilet paper provided but happily the site shop was close by and open. A nice welcome basket provided on arrival.

  • "Fantastic lodge , the welcome hamper was a lovely touch, great location, site facilities were excellent, Will definitely visit again."

    Only negatives were we couldn’t use the travel cot as it didn’t fit in any of the bedrooms, and the fridge door bottle holder was broken, so storing things in fridge was a bit limited,otherwise we had a wonderful holiday.

  • "Thanks to the owner for resolving the issue of no hot water."

    We left a note regarding a problem with opening the fridge door due to a shelf container jamming in the door. Managed to open it but a small lug broke of the container. A cupboard handle screw severed and left dangling on one screw. Otherwise the cabin was perfect, well located and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Would certainly return and recommend to family and friends.

  • "Very nice holiday lodge, quite new, clean and comfortable."

    All bedrooms are adult size. It's in a lovely position on the site. Sit on the deck on a fine day or sit inside on cooler days, watching the squirrels at play through the patio window. We also saw rabbits and a deer in the neighbouring field, all from the comfort of the lodge. Instructions for all the gadgets in a folder under the coffee table, read it at the start of the holiday then you might get to use the ninja multicooker.

Woodpecker Lodge is a lovely holiday dwelling located at the Thurston Manor Holiday Park in East Lothian, suitable for families or friends wanting to explore Scotland.

With off-road parking available for one car tucked up to the side of the property, and on-site facilities, this family-friendly lodge makes the perfect retreat for up to 6 people.

Behind the doors, discover a contemporary open-plan living, kitchen and dining area, with plenty of space for all to cook and relax throughout your stay.

Continuing through the property you’ll find one double bedroom with a tidy en-suite to unwind under the shower and two twin rooms where you can rest your head after your day of exploring the Scottish landscape.

During the warmer days, enjoy relaxation time outside, with seating on your own spot of decking.

Around the holiday park you can find a children’s playing area as well as a local convenience store and a family room with seasonal entertainment.

Once you’re ready to explore, make your way outdoors to the nearby town of Dunbar that hosts the local golf club for any sporty guests, the Pine Marten for some tasty pub grub and East Links Family Park for a delightful afternoon at the animal enclosures, Foxlake adventures is also close by.

If you fancy a view of the sea then enjoy a plethora of choices with Thorntonloch, Cove Beach and Eyemouth Beach all within easy reach by car.

Further out in Eyemouth you can find their museum to immerse yourself in the village history before heading to the popular Giacopazzi’s restaurant to source your traditional fish and chips.

On another day, why not venture deeper into the countryside with many walks available to you such as Bilsdean Waterfall, Butterdean Wood for those deeper forest tones and Tyne River Walk to follow the many streams that inhabit the area.

The lively coastal town of Dunbar, on the south east coast of Scotland, is ideally situated for touring and exploring the area. Boasting lovely sandy beaches, pubs, restaurants, museums and leisure facilities, there is something to satisfy all tastes. The area of East Lothian offers many attractions for visitors including the John Muir Country Park and Museum and the East Links Family Park in Dunbar, the Seabird Centre at North Berwick Harbour, Tantallon Castle, the Museum of Flight, where you can walk under the wings of Scotland's Concorde, and 19 golf courses, including The Open Championship course at Muirfield. Diving off St Abbs is world famous, and beaches at Cove and Coldingham offer unsurpassed beauty. Nearby Cockburnspath lies on the eastern extremity of the Southern Upland Way, a long distance footpath from the west to east coast of Scotland, and is ideally situated to offer great walking. A short drive or train journey north will take you to Edinburgh, while Berwick-upon-Tweed and Lindisfarne are a short drive south. A great location with plenty to see and do!
