  • "The house was very clean and in good condition."

    Very comfortable bed. Overall facilities were excellent though some instructions on bin usage and heating usage would have been appreciated, but we managed to sort out. Excellent location, around a five minute walk to Barry Island sea front and the train station. Perfect location for us

  • "While we were staying, there was a problem with the conservatory roof."

    During one night of very heavy rain we discovered that the conservatory floor was very wet. We contacted Sykes who said they would inform the owner. We also asked about what to do with rubbish. We received nothing from the owner. Also there were no instructions left about use of appliances. This is not what we expect from a Sykes property.

    We do apologise for the slight leak which has only occasionally happened in very heavy downpours and depending on which way the wind is blowing. We are managing this at the moment while looking at ways it can be permanently remedied. There is a green and black bin in the garden and I have now left photo instructions at the property to help guests identify the bins for correct usage. I will look at what appliance instructions are needed, thank you. Property Owner

  • "Property on inside looked unfinished."

    Only a few pictures on the walls. Conservatory which is a big open empty space what would be nice is maybe a few floor lamps instead of us having to use the main lights. In the bedrooms, maybe add a few pictures and make it look finished. Maybe update the bathrooms and the living room a little bit more and the dining room chairs are very wobbly and if you’re like them to fall off them or break them. It would’ve been nice to have some instructions of where to put recycling and rubbish as there was two different bins and two little little bins on the floor, but no instructions of what to put in which bin as things are different between England and wales. apart from that it was comfortable and was recommended to anybody. A lovely short walk to the amusements and the fun also a very short walk to the train station, which is Lovley.

  • "We had a really lovely time and really had everything we needed (we took our own tea towel as one not provided)."

    We ended up playing the Logo Game every night!!! We really only have one comment and that is that the owner did not leave us any instructions. We did not know whether we had to strip the beds (we did), where to put linen (left on beds) and towels (left in bath) and there were no instructions as to what to do with rubbish (we found bins and guessed). Other than that, what a wonderful place to stay, quiet and so near to the beach and station. The house is spacious and it was very luxurious ti have a toilet each

  • "We loved our week at 21 Heol Gylfinir, Barry Island."

    Very highly recommend. The whole accommodation was spotless. There's a really nice feel to the place which made us feel very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed to cater for our family. The beds are extremely comfortable... we slept very well. We also enjoyed the private garden. The whole house felt very homely. Also, it was a nice quiet area, minutes away from Barry Island beach, and a great base for exploring South Wales. We would definitely come again! Thank you for a wonderful week!!

  • "A modern, small, detached 3 bed house in a location handy for the beach."

    Clean and comfortable with everything needed for a few days stay. The only thing to criticise is the poor tv signal.

  • "21 Heol Gylfinir."

    The house itself was very clean and tidy inside but there were a few things that needs attention. No instructions for disposal of waste and recycling, also no helpful information on the area or surroundings i.e bus times, train times eating places points of interest. There were no hand towels or tea towels no table lamp in lounge, only one bottle of handwash for three toilets. The garden was in need of some TLC, decking and picnic table covered in bird droppings. It had been there a while you could not sit outside to eat which was a shame as the weather was great. But the worst thing was the oven and cooking trays they were filthy and greasy not been cleaned for a long time could not use them. Went out and bought a pizza tray and a roll of foil to cook with. This really should be sorted as it was not up to the standard expected from a Sykes property. We have been to lots of places never had this happen before. Margaret

  • "The property would benefit from a welcome card I."

    E. details of how heating works, what to do with your rubbish etc. Some very basic items were missing : bin bags, tea towel,kitchen towel, soap. There was only 1 hand towel provided in the double bedroom. These are small things but would improve the overall stay.

  • "The property was great and very close to the seafront."

    We had some issues trying to get the temperature of the heating up. We also only had hand towels in the 2 bathrooms and not the cloakroom as well. I have never stayed anywhere before that doesn't supply T towels, washing up liquid, tin foil and cling film, this should be advertised that you need to bring your own rather than having to go out and buy all these on arrival.

  • "A nice, well equipped property."

    Very efficient central heating system for winter breaks. Good location with good transport links to Cardiff city centre. General standard of cleanliness was good but oven needed a thorough clean and some of the oven trays etc were dirty or needed replacing due to previous use/damage. We found this off putting & would only book property again if this was dealt with. Information about local recycling collections would be helpful. Road parking on the estate is restricted to residents only and could be an issue for visitors if drive was fully occupied. We did find it difficult to contact Sykes with queries before visiting the property.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

    Lovely house, well laid out, exceptionally well equipped and easy to find everything. Nice comfortable beds. Good location, short walk to seafront, near station for trains to Cardiff and close to Barry shopping centre. We would certainly recommend it. Only downside, a shower screen/curtain needed in bathroom and faulty electric socket in middle bedroom.

  • "After a poor start there had been no cleaner in one was sent to sort it complain made and logged no feedback from it."

    The property could do with a little extras the coffee table has the to on so we’re for your cups glass to be put on only the floor.no clock any were so relia on your phone for the time also needs a lamp as you have to use the main light at night . No information sheet how things workor local information . Nice kitchen but needs a bread bin. No wast information I notice the the binds were being empty so put them out .also tea towels had to go and buy some.these are small things that would make a difference all in all lovely house great location would recommend it to anyone

  • "Broadly OK."

    Sad to find mouldy food in the kitchen cupboards left by previous guests. Sad to find greasy cookware in the kitchen, clearly not cleaned properly by previous guests, and not checked by whoever manages the property. The gardens are overall quite scruffy, and not inviting. The conservatory roof leaks when it rains, and the bath tap in the main bathroom is prone to coming off. I think the description that there is parking for 2 cars is over ambitious

  • "Were enjoyed our holiday."

    The house is very clean, spacious and new. It is situated at the end of a small road in a quiet area Near to two beaches within 5 min Walk It has lovely deck in the garden for having breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need. For the price we can really recommend it
