The property

Redwood Cottage is a characterful house tucked away along a private lane in the village of Blagdon, Somerset, on the edge of the remarkable Mendip Hills National Landscape.

Dating back around 200 years, this inviting pet-friendly retreat blends period charm with thoughtful living spaces, boasting a woodburning stove and family-friendly amenities making it a wonderful choice for families and friends looking to explore this scenic corner of the county.

Arrive at the cottage and pull up outside to unload your luggage before making use of the designated parking space a short stroll away.

The designated parking area is set beside open fields with lovely views and offers a pleasant spot to begin local dog walks.

Framed by potted plants and window displays that add to its welcoming appearance, Redwood Cottage makes a pleasant first impression from the moment you arrive.

Step through the front door into the tiled hallway, a practical space for hanging coats and slipping off walking boots after a day in the Somerset countryside.

From here, move through to the sitting room, where soft lighting, artwork and a carpeted floor create an inviting setting.

Sink into one of the armchairs or stretch out on the sofa as the woodburning stove glows within its brick fireplace, then settle in for an evening film on the Smart TV while the flames flicker nearby.

When it's time to dine, head into the kitchen, where sleek worktops sit alongside everything needed for preparing hearty breakfasts and relaxed evening meals.

Gather ingredients from the nearby village shop and make use of the built-in oven, induction hob and dishwasher before brewing fresh coffee in the cafetière to enjoy at a leisurely pace.

Flowing on from the kitchen is the garden room, a bright space where armchairs and dining seating for four encourage lingering over meals, planning the next day's adventures or simply watching the garden through the patio doors.

Throw open the doors on warmer days and step outside to the south-facing rear garden, where stone steps lead up to a lawned area.

Fire up the barbecue, settle into the outdoor furniture with a refreshing drink and make the most of long afternoons in the sunshine.

Back indoors, the utility room provides added convenience with a washing machine, tumble dryer and heated towel rail, while a handy cloakroom completes the ground floor.

As evening arrives, climb the carpeted staircase to discover the sleeping accommodation.

The king-size bedroom is full of character, featuring an ornate fireplace and chair, offering a lovely spot to unwind with a book before bed.

A double bedroom provides another restful place to retire for the night.

Serving both rooms is a contemporary shower room, where a rainfall shower head offers a refreshing start to each day.

Outside the cottage, guests will find a village shop and pub within easy reach on foot.

Families can enjoy the nearby children's play park, while dog owners will appreciate the local walking area, and tennis courts can also be found just a short stroll from the property.

Visitors can also discover the nearby Yeo Valley Organic Garden, known for its seasonal planting displays and attractive garden spaces.

For exploring the area, the Mendip Hills National Landscape is a superb destination for walkers and nature lovers, offering sweeping countryside views, winding footpaths and opportunities to discover traditional Somerset villages.

Blagdon Lake is another local highlight, where waterside walks, birdlife and ever-changing lake views create a memorable day out.

Venture to Weston-super-Mare and spend time along the seafront, stroll the promenade and enjoy the town's traditional coastal atmosphere.

Within easy reach, Bristol invites visitors to explore the vibrant Harbourside, browse independent shops and discover fascinating museums, while Bath captivates with its historic architecture, elegant streets and acclaimed cultural attractions.
