Stalbridge, Dorset's smallest town, dates back to Saxon times and can be found within glorious North Dorset countryside in the lush Blackmore Vale, used as a backdrop to Thomas Hardy's “Tess of the D'Urbervilles”, adjoining the border with Somerset.
