"We had a fabulous holiday at Ty Rhosyn."
The beds and settees were very comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed including a large kitchen table we could all sit round, eat together and play games. We appreciated the welcome package on arrival and loved looking through the books and games provided. The out door space was just right for us, the dog had some grass to sniff, and we could sit out comfortably enjoying the sunshine. There was plenty of space to park our cars. The property inside and out was very clean with quality furniture. Thank you for such a lovely holiday! We would thoroughly recommend this property.
So good to hear that you had a fabulous holiday. Thank you so much for the glowing review - it made my day!

"This is a lovely house close to the main road between Newgale and Solva."
For a three generation family it was ideal, parents and child upstairs with their own bathroom and grandparents with dog downstairs. The downstairs bathroom is as far away from the bedroom as it can be so unfortunately there was no way of using the bathroom at night without disturbing the dog. It was just inside the back door though. It has comfortable sofas and beds with nice furnishings and bed linen. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. Lots of games for fun evenings. It has a small shed with the outside furniture, fishing nets, football and other useful things.
There is a nice walk down to the small local beach and easy access to the coastal path. Hardly any footpaths for safely walking along roads with children and dogs unfortunately. A good base for exploring that part of Pembrokeshire. Not close to any shops or restaurants, the nearest are the Nisa at the filling station on the way to Haverfordwest and the Pelcombe Inn, which has a limited but good value menu.
Thank you for your review. Solva, which is 3 miles away, has a good selection of pubs and restaurants and there is Bayview Stores which sells fresh bread, meat from a local butchers and locally-caught crab, lobster and other seafood. Nearby St David's also has many places to eat including great pizza at Grain and you can buy just-caught, seasonal seafood from Car Y Mor to cook yourself. There's also a good-sized supermarket, a butcher and deli in St David's. Other options are listed in the information folder in the house. Haverfordwest, 9 miles away, has four large supermarkets and all the usual high street shops.

"Ty Rhosyn was perfect for our needs."
This was the first time we have stayed away for Christmas and we really enjoyed ourselves. The kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of crockery and utensils. The house was warm and comfortable. I needed to check a few things and contact with the owner was helpful and prompt. Easy to get to nearby Solva, Newgale and St Davids. A lovely stay.

"This is a wonderful property in a great location."
It is very well equipped. My only criticism, and it is a small one as the owners might not previously have been made aware of the issue, was that the tumble drier did not work. I reported this but there was no indication of any immediate intention to repair it. This is perhaps the fault of the previous users to not have reported the issue.
Thank you for your positive feedback!
The issue with the tumble drier was dealt with promptly (we're awaiting a spare part) and I apologise that there was some miscommunication getting back to you about that.

"We had a wonderful week at Ty Rhosyn: the facilities were excellent with everything you need in the kitchen plus a very thoughtful array of books and games for all ages."
Beds were comfortable and it was great having two bathrooms. There is a very pleasant feeling of space in the cottage, which is light and airy and has a small but pleasing garden and patio area. An extra bonus was the nearby cove at Penycwm: this is a short walk across the road and down a quiet lane, where you meet the coast path with extensive views and then on to the cove itself. This is a sandy, pebbly beach with some caves and tremendous waves on a windy day, and we were often the only ones there. It made a nice sunset walk, too.
The cottage is also very well placed for exploring St David's and lots of bays and coastal walks are just a short drive away. We enjoyed a boat trip to Skomer Island where we saw puffins and other sea birds and our favourite walk was from Whitesands along to St David's Head, where there are wild ponies, lots of boulders to scramble on and a good bay with caves and rock pools en route.
We would love to return for another stay.
Thank you so much for your kind comments! We were really pleased to hear you had a great holiday and appreciate that you took the time to give a detailed and helpful review of the house and local area. Hopefully you will be able to return soon!

"A lovely house with a well equipped kitchen."
Very comfortable for the six of us. Comfy beds. Brilliant downstairs bedroom for us and the dog. A sunny well maintained garden, lovely to sit in. A spacious drive.
An added bonus was the location- just crossing the road and being able to walk down a footpath to the coastal path and access to Newgale and Solva.
We were so glad to hear your positive feedback - thank you! As you say, it's lovely to sit in the garden and look out over the fields and even catch a glimpse of the sea from the end of the garden.
We've really made an effort to ensure the kitchen has whatever you need - not just for meal preparation but also baking as well as crackers and picks for local crab or lobster!

"One of the best places we have stayed, will definitely return for a couple more weeks one day soon ."
It’s a lovely area for beaches all within a couple of miles but it’s also a great sun trap in the back garden. Solva Fishguard & Porthgain are our most popular spots to go to. So if booked you won’t be disappointed as I know we weren’t… 10/10 all the way …
So happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

"This is lovely comfortable and well-appointed house."
However, for dog owners, there are a few problems. The garden is not secure and opens directly onto a road with busy agricultural vehicles. It is also open to the neighbouring property and so it is not possible to have your dog free in the garden with or without you and this should be pointed out in the listing. Also there is hardly anywhere local to walk the dog. The only safe walk is down to the coastal path and the nice little cove, but to do this twice a day gets tedious for all parties and the climb back up the cliff would not be for everyone. The surrounding area is not good for dog walks. The location of the house is not good for any local amenities. The pub has burnt down (and would have been a demanding walk there and back anyway) and you really have to drive everywhere. So, a lovely property with a few draw backs which should be pointed out.
Thank you for your comments. I have requested further information be added to the listing regarding facilities for dogs. As you say, the garden is not enclosed (as shown in the photos) and lots of walks involve a short drive first. The walk to Penycwm beach is beautiful but does involve a fairly steep hike back! A circular route down and then along to Newgale and back along the coastal path is possible if done at low tide. As well as coastal walks, we enjoy taking the dog to the disused St David's airfield which is now a nature reserve.
With regard to shops and amenities, they do involve a drive (about 3 miles to Solva, 7 miles to St David's and 9 miles to Haverfordwest) or a grocery delivery is another option. Solva has many places to eat, there is the Victoria Inn in Roch and a couple of cafes in Newgale.

"Cottage itself very comfortable and plenty of room."
Location good and central for the Pembrokeshire coastline.
Disappointed that there was no milk in the fridge, no kitchen roll and very little toilet roll in both toilets (especially after a 6 hour journey). This was probably an oversight by the cottage carers/cleaners.
So glad to hear that you found the house and location to your liking. We apologise for the various items that should have been stocked up in preparation for your arrival and will discuss this with the cleaning company.

"We had a lovely few relaxing days at Ty Rhosyn, it was so close to some beautiful beaches where we could exercise our puppy and just enjoy the view."
We used the wood burner in the cottage which made it cosy for the hours between the times that the heating comes on and goes off. We did find the driveway a bit awkward to navigate due to the bank on one side and the planters on the other, but other than that we had a very enjoyable stay.

"This cottage is well equipped and has everything you need for a weeks break."
however I would like to draw to your attention a few things to help improve, this charming little cottage. 1. the oven on the left hand side needs cleaning. 2. generally the cottage is lovely and warm the lounge can be a tad chilly, and smoke was emitted from the log burner when we used it once and only once 3. the double bedroom downstairs was like an ice box even with the radiator on, in view of this we turned the radiator off and slept in the twin beds upstairs (we were a party of 2 couples). I hope this feedback is useful.

"Without appearing picky, one or two things could have improved our stay."
Firstly through no fault of yours the heating was not set high enough for our needs but was rectified immediately we informed you that three of our party were in their 80's.
Secondly the oldest member was allocated the downstairs bedroom because she couldn't climb the stairs but the toilet was some distance to travel on her own during the night, (through the lounge and kitchen to the hall near the main entrance). If we had known this a more convenient residence could have been chosen.
The stay at Ty Rhosyn was a very enjoyable one and was found to be, on the whole, a lovely place to occupy.
We were happy to hear that you had an enjoyable stay and found Ty Rhosyn a lovely place. As you mention, you requested a change in the heating settings and we immediately over-rode the standard eco-friendly settings to allow you to have the heating on high day and night at no extra cost. Thank you for drawing attention to the shower and toilet near the back entrance - this is ideally located for guests returning wet and sandy after an invigorating swim or surf at the nearby stunning Newgale beach.

"The let was all we could have hoped for."
It was reasonably priced and was well stocked with gadgets to make whatever we did possible. If I was being really picky then the heat control of the water in the shower was difficult to move, but apart from that we were very well pleased and would recommend Sykes to others.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're happy to hear you had a great holiday. Thank you for bringing the shower control bar to our attention, we have since replaced this.
