  • "Lovely stay - we hope to be back soon"

    Reviewed by JackieApr 2022

  • "Ok, there were some really good things about this property that we loved but overall there were too many things that we disliked so we would not return here again."

The driveway up to the house needs work, it’s really rough and bumpy. Someone had put sharp pieces of slate down which were jagged and looked like they could puncture tyres. The bushes to the side of the driveway up to the house were all overgrown and thick brambles were hanging over and would scratch every time we drove in and out the property. As for the house, upstairs was very good, lovely and clean, comfortable. Downstairs however was not our cup of tea at all. The lighting for the kitchen and living room is so dim, it needs more lighting. The kitchen was a lovely space, great cooker and the owners had left us a lovely surprise gift of tea bags, bara brith and Welsh cakes which was so lovely. It’s just a bit dark in the kitchen. The living room has the same problem, it’s quite dark, feels like it’s part of another house. It could do with some work, it did feel a bit creepy to be honest, I didn’t really like spending time in there. We were so excited to see the wood burning fire but it just filled the room with a smoky smell, then we had to open the windows to try and get rid of the smell and then it was freezing cold in there. I can imagine it having a different feel in the summer time because you would have more light during the day, you could make use of the lovely outdoor space, it’s really quiet, no one else around, there is plenty of space for children and dogs to play. We can see that a lot of people have stayed here and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for us. If the owners made some improvements, it would make a huge difference. It does have the potential but in my opinion some work is needed for sure.

  • "We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a generous welcome package, bread, butter ,milk, eggs ,tea ,Welsh cakes and a bottle of bubbly, this was amazing as we have used many cottages that are fairly remote arrived to nothing not even toilet paper !"

!,the cottage is well equipped, comfortable and the wi fi is brilliant if that is an important feature for you.The cottage was clean and plenty of towels etc.I recommend you get Netflix or other streaming platforms if you like you cosy night watching films etc as the TV is a little limited, there are plenty of walks and places to visit ,our dogs had a great time ,but be aware there are grazing sheep in adjoining fields as it is part of a working farm.If you want a perfect getaway from your busy lives this is definitely for you,oh and you need a torch or your mobile to find your way to the loo at night as it is very dark. The scenery is breathtaking, We would highly recommend this cottage .

  • "Really lovely cottage in the middle of the Welsh countryside, amongst sheep and cows and the Presili Hills."

The cottage was clean and well equipped and the views were just amazing. It was easily big enough for the 5 of us but would definitely accommodate a 6th person too. Not much more than 1/2 and hour to most of the local attractions and beaches. I would definitely return.

Only one thing wrong was the drive up to the house it is bad bad 1mph at best check your tyres and tracking before you set off back home do not hope to keep your vehicle clean. And when it is wet oh oh. But the place and holiday was great.

  • "Lovely cottage and the owners were very nice and helpful ."

The garden was not secure for the dogs but after talking to the owners they were there the following morning making the garden secure . Could not ask for anything more . The farm shop , Carla’s , just up the road was excellent , lovely owners and the local produce excellent. Found a great pub at Rosebush called the Tafern Sinc ,well worth a visit , food and ambiance great . The only negative we had was the track leading up to the house , because of all the rain it had made it very uneven , fine for an suv but not so good for a car .

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Llygad-yr-Haul, especially the privacy, quietness and views."

It was an ideal place for a family holiday - lovely beaches within easy reach. It was a nice surprise to receive a welcome pack, with all the essentials, butter, milk, tea, eggs and a loaf. The property was well laid out and spacious, especially the kitchen. There were a few niggles; leaky tap, windows dirty, woodburner a bit smokey and no seal on the bottom of the shower screen. Also the long track to the house could do with some attention - care is required with an ordinary car. I must say that these were minor issues and did not in any way spoil our family holiday. It was a lovely area in which to stay and the property was ideal for our needs.

  • "A lovely Rural cottage with friendly, helpful owners on hand."

It is on a working sheep farm so there is some noise from the flock and it is worth noting that the garden(s) are not enclosed so dogs have to be very well behaved or on a lead. All in all a nice peaceful location and within reach of a number of beautiful beaches and towns.

The house itself was really comfortable and homely, only thing I would have wanted would have been a tumble dryer not the dishwasher. We had a great time visiting all the dogfriendly attractions in and around the area. Will definately be going back

The area was a bit too remote for my liking very narrow lanes to drive along to get anywhere. The cottage was very nice and well maintained.
