  • "We spent a wonderful week in solva and Arfryn was the perfect base."

    Extremely comfortable and well maintained home with everything you could ask for. Spacious property that was perfect for our needs. My parents loved the sun room which became their reading nook. Loved all the art work which was very relevant to the local area. Would definitely book again if In that area. Not a criticism but a note, although there was a wonderful information dossier there was no info on rubbish/recycling or what to do with it. Thank you for the perfect stay and the welcome milk and welsh cakes. A beautiful home and would highly recommend.

With regard to the refuse, I have attended this week and replaced the recycling bags, added a food caddy and added a note in the information book confirming where to put it for the cleaning team to remove it.   • "Could not fault accommodation it was excellent but would have liked some toilet rolls to be in place on arrival - probably an oversight by housekeeping."

    There was no information on how to deal with our rubbish so had to be left in the bins indoors (but did leave a note in the visitor's book about this). We would have liked a small bin in all the bedrooms and a chair in the main bedroom.

  • "We enjoyed our week in this well equipped, clean and cosy property and left a very complimentary review in the visitors book."

    However this has been really spoiled by receiving notification we have been charged an extra £150 for supposed damage to a door and tv stand drawer. We always treat any property with care and there was no way we caused this damage which was not even apparent when we arrived or left otherwise we would have reported it. Please refund the £150 you have already taken without even talking to us.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Arfryn."

    Lovely spacious bungalow with a well thought out layout. Very clean and comfortable with a nice sea view and some pretty personal touches. We appreciated the welcome pack and plenty of information about appliances etc., also that the property was in a quiet area. It was however, close to the village with shops and pubs serving lovely meals and there were lovely coastal walks nearby. Thanks for our lovely stay. Brenda

  • "Had a lovely stay at Arfryn."

    Really comfortable bungalow, which was really warm with very comfortable beds, and sofas. This was probably my mother in law last holiday, as she has terminal cancer, and was really worried before we went that she wouldn't be comfortable, but I shouldn't have worried. She thoroughly enjoyed and we made many memories. A few niggles, that was disappointing was the dining chairs looked really terrible, and peeling, which was a real shame because all the other furniture was a very high standard. Kitchen utensils were missing a few things, need to add a colander, and a working tin opener, and peeler, and a bigger Kitchen bin. Would recommend and stay there again. Thsnk you for a memorable stay.

  • "The property is in a good location, has been well maintained and is beautifully furnished, although there was a horrible sewage smell in the bathroom which didn’t go away."

    I note a previous reviewer also said this. A couple of things we also noted - there is no leather gauntlet for the log burner, I think this is supposed to be given to you when you have one installed. The handle gets really hot and it’s quite dangerous. There was also no welcome pack or even a pint of milk in the fridge. We had a long journey and even just a small gesture would have been greatly appreciated. However, we would be happy to return if the plumbing gets fixed!

With regard to your constructive feedback I have attended the property this weekend with a builder to look at the toilet again for me to establish what the issue is. Thank you for letting me know about no gloves for the log burner being present. As a result I have replaced them. I am very sorry to hear you did not have a welcome pack when you arrived. I have checked with the cleaning team and they have advised that on this weekend they forgot to leave one. I hope this did not spoil your stay too much and I look forward to you coming back to Solva.   • "Overall we had an amazing stay and the property is really lovely but there are a few things that could improve stays in the future."

    There is definitely an issue in terms of drainage in the one bathroom. When we arrived and opened the door the smell was awful. It became less strong with the door open unless anyone was using the bathroom but it needs addressing. Few other small things are more information on recycling and there was none. We separated ours and left in bags so hopefully cleaners knew what to do with it. Be nice to have a dish rack for the sink. As said earlier none of this spoiled a lovely holiday in a great location

  • "Beautiful, well-equipped property."

    Great location for walking the coastal paths and heading into Solva - the Cambrian Inn was a particular family favourite for food.

  • "We had a great stay in the property."

    The dog loved its safe secure garden, but with easy access to the coastal path. There is plenty of room and the kitchen is well equipped. This rental looks new on the market so we noticed some minor teething problems, There was no information on what to do with the rubbish/recycling and what day it was collected. Also no external bins to put rubbish in, we ended up just pilling it all up with the neighbours. There was no extra black bin bags for the internal bin. The washing line was the rotating type with a stand but that needs to be fastened down but that's impossible to do on a slabbed garden. One of the bathrooms had a nasty smell so we used the other one. Overall a very enjoyable stay, the very minor snags can easily be rectified and did not at all effect our stay. We travel quite a lot and stay in a variety of different places, so would I stay here again Yes I would.

Glad you liked the coastal path as it is amazing and is just the other side of the football pitch. Regarding the bins, I have ordered new bins and more information will be added into the welcome pack so hopefully this will resolve the issue. Following your feedback about the smell in the toilet I arranged for a drain man to attend. He confirmed that the toilet was blocked. I have now added a message asking for guests to ensure they flush properly and to ensure other things are not flushed down the toilet. For other guests reading this please make contact regarding things like this so that it can be resolved promptly rather than spoiling your well earned holiday.   • "Arfryn is a truly gem!"

    The house is warm and welcoming and has everything you need for your stay! The kids loved it! There’s also a playground next to the house and a lovely grocery shop a few minutes walk from there. We did explore the area from there: st David and the south coast of Pembrokeshire. I’d recommend to stop and get an ice cream at the pointz castle..so delicious! Would be lovely to come back xx

St Davids 6 miles; Haverfordwest 12 miles.

A superb village around a tidal harbour where boats can be launched and walks along the dramatic coast path will be a delight any time of the year. This pretty little village may be small but offers friendly pubs serving good food, gift shops, art galleries and a nearby superb woollen mill shop where special gifts can be bought to remember your stay in Wales. Lazy days sitting and watching the ebb and flow of the tide and the boats bobbing in and out of the harbour are a sheer delight. Visit the nearby woollen mill itself to sit by the waterwheel, go into the weaving shed or enjoy a break in the cafe.
