"The owners had thought of absolutely everything, and it was the most well equipped house we have ever rented through Best of Suffolk."
We rent 1 to 2 times a year within Aldeburgh.
To be honest, we booked the trip quite late and we didn’t have a board selection of properties for our requirements. For our elderly parents, the stairs were quite difficult, but that’s not the fault of the property. It’s just the choices we had left.
I would stay at nutmeg again without hesitation

Only one possible negative. Lots of stairs to top bedroom. You need to be fit!

"We stayed at Nutmeg a few years ago and we were delighted to find the same quality of fittings and furnishings as we remember."
It is extremely comfortable, outstandingly well equipped and in a great location, a 10 minute walk into town, but that's no problem for us.
It would be good if the row of sycamore trees at the back could be reduced in size, but since they are not in the owner's garden there is probably nothing that can be done. In May they were dropping catkins which made a mess of the car, but the heavy rain on the way home washed it off!
Please pass on our thanks to the owner for having us in his fantastic house and we hope to visit again.
Thanks for your lovely review.
The comments about the trees are very useful..
We look forward to your next visit.

"Nutmeg is a lovely, well-equipped and maintained holiday home."
The rooms are tastefully decorated and the courtyard-style garden is very sheltered and attractively planted. The location is very good: a short walk from the town centre and an even shorter one from the beach. We would certainly be interested in returning here in the future.
A couple of suggestions to enhance guests' experience:
- provide a box with seat pads for the outside chairs, on the basis that guests would stow these when not in use;
- highlight the fact that the parking space isn't very usable for periods of the year unless you are willing to allow your car to be coated with the sticky sap from the over-hanging maple trees.
Thanks for your helpful review.
The comments about the trees, which are on a neighbours land, are very useful. I also spend considerable time trying to keep the path clear from debris from the trees.
We are staying ourselves later in the year, and will look into your suggestion about storage for the seat pads for the outside furniture, which are currently on shelves in the shed.
We look forward to your next visit.

"Our 2nd stay at Nutmeg."
Beautiful property, excellently and comprehensively equipped, including toiletries. The standard of cleanliness and presentation was outstanding.
We found we needed to purchase bottled water for drinking/kettle as the kitchen tap water left a LOT of scum in drinks.
On arrival, bedroom 3 was made up as a twin (we had NOT requested this) and it made access to the windows & curtains difficult.
Beds were lovely & comfortable. We appreciated the welcome gifts too.
We will be back!
Thank you for your helpful review, we look forward to your return.
We continue to work with Best of Suffolk with regard bed configuration, and hope that the beds are arranged to your wishes on your next visit.
The water in Aldeburgh is "Very Hard", the kettle has been changed following your review, it is amazing how quickly the kettle scales up, although we descale regularly. The kitchen tap is the only tap that is not softened (see below). The water company say:
"If you have hard water, you might notice white scale build up in your appliances and taps, or a sheen on the surface of hot drinks. Mineral rich water can be a nuisance but also beneficial because we need calcium for healthy bones and teeth.
You can reduce the effects of water hardness on your appliances by using a softener. Most softeners swaps calcium and magnesium with sodium.
Please note that we don't recommend using softeners on kitchen taps, especially for babies and people on sodium-restricted diets.
You can also reduce white scale build in your kettle by only boiling the water once."
We hope that you enjoy your next visit.

"Stayed with a bunch of (oldish) girls!"
for a celebratory, long weekend. Wonderful property; everything you could possibly need.
The location from town was a little misleading in the information; we expected a 5 mins walk but it was a good 20 mins along quite unlit roads in the evenings to walk into town.
However, would thoroughly recommend.
Thank you for your review, we are delighted that you chose Nutmeg for your celebratory weekend. We take every effort in describing the property including a map showing the location of the house.

Great location so easy to walk everywhere and parking was easy too for the extra cars as loads of free street parking in the main road . "We, a party of seven from 17 to 79 with a whippet, stayed in Nutmeg for one week for short family holiday."
We very lucky with the weather and we had a wonderful time. The property is beautifully maintained and equipped. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and none were better than this. We particularly liked the small but beautifully designed gardens And the well equipped kitchen. It is very obvious that the owners have put a great deal of thought into providing everything for comfortable holiday. I am happy to recommend this property to anybody thinking of a stay in Aldeburgh.
The house is in a quiet street and is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the High Street with all its shops and restaurants. One of the charms of this little town is that its facilities are out of proportion to its small town charm. if you are here, bibliophile then I recommend the towns bookshops and the pastry ice cream and beer lovers among us were well served . It’s even closer to the beach which although shingle rather than sand was one of the highlights of our stay. It’s a longer but lovely shoreline walk, 30 or 40 minutes, to Thorpeness, which we also enjoyed. We didn’t really take advantage of the local attractions since we were there to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We were slightly out of season so the local theatre was not yet in production, which would’ve been nice, but altogether we had a fantastic time and I would recommend both Aldeburgh in general and Nutmeg in particular to anyone who Is looking for a relaxing family holiday.

Some small snags but discussed with owner who was very very helpful. The housekeeping ladies at halfway through our stay were a delight. Garden gorgeous - helped by 10 days of glorious weather. Great multigenerational holiday home - will definitely return in the future. "Magnificent kitchen, overload of all crockery."
But why the mean little Paris Goblets for wine? I find drinking out of nice glasses adds to the enjoyment, greatly. the bedrooms were fine, lovely bed-linen and delicious large fluffy bath towels (why do some for think a shower towel should be smaller than a bath ditto?I did feel that the garden was over-hyped. I had imagined a large space so Rory 7, could have cricket practise with his dad. But it is well laid out a pleasure for sitting in (weather not good enough for much of that ,alas). We three generations enjoyed our stay in Nutmeg
