• "The exterior was realy nice, beautful garden, patio etc, but the interior was very small / narrow: there is no dining table, limited kitchen equipement, no dishes for saled etc."

  During days with good weather however, the picnic table on the terrace is nice. Great place if you like hiking. It is a real nice place during summer, but during rainy or cold days when you have to stay inside, it is too small. Very good bathing room. Unfortunately the landlord never showed up to welcome us and to shake hands.

As a cosy woodland cabin, the space is intentionally compact, and we appreciate that this may not suit everyone. We’re also sorry we didn’t get the opportunity to welcome you personally. We tend to give guests their privacy and allow them to settle in at their own pace, but we completely understand that some guests prefer a personal welcome. • "Wonderful cabin lovely woodland ."

• "Lovely secluded cabin with super jacuzzi."

  Had everything needed for a short stay for two. Setting was lovely and well kept. Not many shops around so make sure you take enough supplies until you find your way around. Maybe an upgrade of the bench table it felt very flimsy and unstable, but there was a good little table for two. Enjoyed the peaceful setting, thank you X

• "Great week in a lovely location."

  Facilities were good, even though we picked the hottest week of the year the cabin was comfortable even at night. Lovely place for a totally relaxed week, or a busy time visiting the local area

• "Lovely little cabin, fantastic hot tub has everything that you need."

  Even though we didn't have the weather with us, it was wonderful watching the squirrels running around playing in the garden and we had 2 deer coming out of the woods around 4.30pm and dusk each day. Now the not so good points.... At no point did we see the owners to say hello too, which we found unusual. In the kitchenette the plug sockets for the kettle and toaster was on the shelf, so possibly hazard, Lastly there is a steepish rough stone path between the car parking area and the cottage, so not good if you have mobility problems.

We’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the cabin and the hot tub, and that you were able to make the most of the surrounding wildlife — spotting the squirrels and deer really does make it extra special here, even when the weather isn’t quite on our side! We’re sorry that a couple of aspects didn’t fully meet your expectations. While we aren’t always able to meet guests in person, we do leave a comprehensive welcome pack at the cabin with all of our contact details, and we’re always more than happy to help with any queries during your stay. Thank you also for highlighting the kitchenette sockets. As the cabin is quite compact with limited space, the appliances are stored on the shelf; however, these can easily be moved and plugged into the socket behind the microwave for safe use. In terms of access, the cabin is reached via a stone path leading down to the entrance steps, which can be uneven in places. We have contacted Sykes to request that this is made clearer on the listing, although the steps are currently noted. We do apologise if this was not as clear as it should have been and for any inconvenience caused. Thank you again for your kind comments and helpful feedback — it really is appreciated. • "We loved our stay at Charlton's Hollow."

  Perfect seclusion and peaceful surroundings. The cabin is so cosy and the outside space is well thought through and makes the place feel bigger. We were so fortunate with the weather, and sitting outside was a delight - it's a real sun trap. The hot tub was such a lovely addition - feeling like you are in the woods, but still enjoying the luxury! Plenty of places to visit locally. A real gem! The hosts were super helpful and friendly. (The only constructive feedback I'd want to give would be the size of towels provided - could do with being proper bath towels)

• "Absolutely beautiful place and lovely owners."

  Everything about the cabin is so beautifully presented with everything you need at hand. The outside space is equally good, with an enormous hot tub ready and waiting to use. Beautiful surroundings with lots of acorns falling. Absolutely loved our stay and will be booking for next year.

  Lovely little cabin perfect for a couple and a dog Beautifully and thoughtfully furnished The hot tub is a very high standard and perfect for an evening soak and massage Would have liked a bit more privacy from The owners house but you are far enough away down a slope to feel moderately secluded Once the new planting has matured this would have been a 10/10
