  • "Wonderful accommodation in a superb quiet location."

Very comfortable and warm and well equipped. Immediately felt at home. Fantastic views from the living room, main bedroom and garden and a stunning double aspect view from the twin bedroom. Very comfy garden chairs and we were lucky enough with the weather to be able to use them in February! For a relaxing stay in an area overflowing with brilliant walks this can't be beaten. An absolute gem.

  • "Another lovely and comfortable week in this cottage."

It is well equipped, although missing a teapot. We also had to use our own Netflix account. The boot room is very useful for drying wet walking gear - good to see the new latch after my comment last year. An outside light would be helpful - one that came on automatically to light the way to the garage.

Thanks for your feedback and I’m really glad you had a nice stay. We will replace the teapot, the Netflix is now back on and the outside light is now working. Many thanks Property Owner

  • "We liked the cottage, although if it were me I'd have a modern kitchen."

The garden chairs were uncomfortable- shame as it was such a lovely view, and actually the sitting room chairs were not very comfortable- no headrest, wooden arms. I've come home with a slight backache. Most importantly, it is unacceptable to have no recycling bin.

  • "Very comfortable - will all facilities in the cottage."

View from the master bed room is spectacular with all kinds of wildlife visible - birds are beautiful in the morning. Spotlessly clean and close to all amenities and some great walks. For this looking for a quiet spell away Hope Cottage is perfect. Julia Richardson Australia

Comfortable and well equipped. Perfect base for walkers and cyclists-spacious secure garage for bike storage and boot room. We also loved the huge variety of board games, some new favourites added to birthday and Christmas lists!! Thank you for a wonderful few days.

Lots of lovely artwork. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. The main bedroom has fantastic views and the bed is really comfortable. The boot room is an excellent place for drying wet walking gear although it is easy to get locked in if you are not careful as there is no latch inside the door.

Thank you for your feedback and I’m really glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for highlighting the boot room door I’ll get that looked at straight away Property Owner

Single bed not comfortable. No hand soap or washing up liquid. Dishwasher should be in kitchen as cobbles very slippy carrying plates to garage. Fire guard needed for wood burner as sparks hit carpet. More information needed on where to park.

Upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are a good size although downstairs kitchen and lounge are bit cosier. Downstairs door frame heights are strangely low despite tall ceilings. Beware your head if you're tall.

  • "I have already written this in the owner's Guest Book."

It is a lovely cottage with superb views. Reeth would be hard to beat as a sleepy dales village surrounded by the Swaledale hills but with a choice of four pub/hotels, ditto cafes and two bakeries. We had a marvellous stay.

  • "Beautiful, warm and spotless house with incredible views across valley."

Everything perfect, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen but could benefit from a washing up bowl as taking washing up out to garage to use dishwasher a little tricky. Loved all the local info and maps thank you! Lovely fire and thank you for the starter pack. With views so special from lounge it would be lovely to position table in window alcove to lookout whilst eating. Wonderful garden and loved the table and chairs on terrace for morning coffee and evening drinks. Fantastic shower and so nice to have bath after long day walking on the fells. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back and also recommend to friends. Thank you! Reeth is a special place.

Thank you for your feedback and I’m really glad you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for any confusion over the washing up bowl, the bowl in the kitchen is for washing up and there is now an additional bowl in the garage for taking anything to the dishwasher if preferred. Many thanks Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed the views almost as much as climbing the hills!"

The ease of getting food and supplies was helpful too. Everything was spotless. The furnishings were new and modern, but very much in keeping with the historic cottage. It was very cozy and we really felt we had got away from the crowded South of England. The rabbits on the lawn and the little table in the garden were lovely touches. We would very much like to return.

This property is within easy reach of traditional inns, village shops and offers a delightful interior, stunning views from the garden, an idyllic escape for families and friends with walks in every direction from the door.

Park outside to unload your belongings then move the car to a roadside parking spot, where you can soak in the scenery of the village before heading inside the house.

The exterior boasts a garage where you can house your bikes for some enjoyable cycling in the country and a Boot Room with heat from the boiler to dry out boots and walking gear on the clothes hanger.

Make your way into the sitting room where you can settle into the sofa with the warmth of the woodburning stove circulating the room.

Step outside to the beautiful, rear garden to admire spectacular sights of the rolling countryside before you and savour a glass of wine as you absorb the peaceful atmosphere of Reeth.

When sleep calls, retreat upstairs to discover the refreshing blue decor of the double room or choose from the twin or single rooms; all three delightful rooms offer a feature fireplace to retain the charm of this property.

About the location

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
