The property

Sedbergh Penthouse is an inviting first-floor apartment in Sedbergh, Yorkshire Dales, offering parking, WiFi and an open-plan living space designed for easy, sociable holidays.

Step inside and you’re greeted by a single, shared hub where the kitchen, dining spot and sitting area flow together, ideal for mornings spent mapping out walking routes over breakfast, and evenings gathered around the table after a day on the fells.

When the pace slows, the roomy corner sofa calls for a quiet night in with the TV, a simple way to round off busy days outdoors. The sleeping arrangements suit couples and small groups alike, with a king-size bedroom for unwinding at the end of the day, plus a characterful mezzanine double sofa bed that works well for children or another pair of guests.

A contemporary shower room with a walk-in shower helps you refresh and reset, ready to head back out.

And with a pub and a shop a short walk away when you need to top up supplies and keep the fridge stocked for the next round of adventures. Sedbergh itself has a lovely reputation for books and independent shops, giving you a slower-paced option between bigger days exploring.

Beyond town, the Yorkshire Dales offers plenty of ways to get outside: walking, cycling, fishing, golf and tennis all feature in the area’s appeal, while the Lake District sits within reach for even more opportunities to stretch your legs.

For a change of backdrop, Kendal and Appleby-in-Westmorland make tempting day trips when you fancy an easy outing and a gentle wander.

Whatever your itinerary looks like, Sedbergh Penthouse in Sedbergh, Yorkshire Dales provides a welcoming place to return to.

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
