  • "Our extended weekend at Spring Rose was so enjoyable."

The cottage had been prepared superbly and was immaculately presented. We would certainly like to return to Rose Cottage for another stay. A minor note to help future visitors: The bath is generously sized but had so handles / side grips. There is no grab handle (suction) on the wall. Either or both would be of great benefit to some visitors - maybe the older clients ? The above reflection does not detract in any way from the comfort and enjoyment we experience whilst staying at Spring Cottage.Thank you to all who contributed to our stay.

  • "Overall this is a brilliant cottage and in a convenient location."

Upon arrival there were a few things we noticed: Stains on ceiling (old so probably previous bathroom issues) A few marks on stairwell wall and stair carpet Bathroom. Flaky paint above shower and paint missing from door stop Stain on sofa Biggest issue - crack right across the back large ring of the hob - I rang the owner as not sure if they were aware. The lady was lovely and said previous occupants had unfortunately broken it. None of the above affected our holiday but pointed this out as there is a housekeeping surcharge for damage. Fortunately I always take photos when we arrive and leave in order to leave things as I find them. Mainly it’s a lovely cottage, ideally situated for the market square and shops also for travelling either to the moors or to the dales. All of the furniture was really comfortable with good quality furniture, bedding, towels etc. fixtures and fittings. Everything important was immaculately clean and fresh on arrival. We have already rebooked this cottage for next year. Thank you

  • "Spring Rose Cottage was a perfect location to tour around North Yorkshire."

Tucked away in a quiet courtyard just off the main street in Bedale with parking outside. Bedale is charming with cafes shops pubs bakery and even a large co-op. There is a pleasant walk along the stream at the end of the road. The cottage was spotlessly clean, modern and spacious for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and was fully equiped with a dishwasher and wifi. The milk in the fridge when we arrived was a welcome touch. The only thing that would add to this lovely cottage would be a fan for each bedroom as we visited in a heatwave. Overall I would fully recommend this property and would happily stay there again. Thank you

Lovely little town house close to the shops - Ideally situated for our trips round the area - Newby Hall was a fabulous day out for all the family We brought our own travel cot but a high chair would have been a bonus to have Weather was extremely hot so all the windows had to be open the whole time as there was no cooling fans Excellent stay Thank You Sue

  • "Lovely well equipped house, decorated really nicely, especially the bedrooms."

Comfy beds. Downstairs loo a real bonus! Only issue we had was virtually non existent WiFi and the tv has a fault on the screen. But overall the house is great, close to pubs and shops.

  • "Lovely little house but a shame the oven doesn't work properly!"

It's clearly very old, all the markings have worn off so you can't see which controls relate to which hob plate and none of the plates get hot enough to cook properly. Could only get the oven to grill things, not cook them properly. After battling for an hour to cook even an omelette and having to use the microwave to boil vegetables, we had to resort to eating out and took most of the food we bought to cook home with us. WiFi was also extremely slow. I really think you should replace the oven & hob!

  • "We had a very comfortable stay at Spring Rose cottage, it was well equipped and very homely and had the added bonus of parking, we would have booked another week there but unfortunately was booked."

The only thing missing was a mirror in the bedroom. Literally a minutes walk from the high street which has independent shops, a beautiful church, park and river walk where we saw an otter along the bank heading for the water. Highly recommend.

  • "Spring Rose, was Fantastic."

Great location straight on to the high street for shops, pubs and restaurants. Also good location for visiting other local areas like Richmond, Ripon, Barnard Castle etc no more than 30 mins away. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and everything we needed to make our stay a home from home including the private parking. Thanks for a great break we will be back

  • "Unlike the previous reviewer we cannot fault this cottage."

It was immaculate, tasteful, fully functional - perfect for our stay. The skylight windows open for air at night, the oven worked perfectly and the taps were fine! We really appreciated the fresh smell, the excellent decor and the spotlessness. Super location too - seconds from the High Street. We'll be back.

  • "The cooker is not fit for purpose."

Read some reviews dated April 2024 saying it was not user friendly so naturally assumed it would have been replaced by April 2025. The hob rings cannot heat up a pan to allow boiling or frying. The hob knobs have no markings. The oven has no markings & you basically have to put it on as high as it goes & hope it works. This made meal time an absolute nightmare. Futhermore there are not enough mirrors in the property or windows upstairs that can be left open at night for fresh air. It's a lovely little cottage spoilt mainly by the cooking facilities & for that reason I couldn't recommend or would choose to stay again.

  • "Spring Rose cottage was spotlessly clean warm and comfortable."

The tap in the bathroom was awful. It sprayed water everywhere. I dreaded using it . The hob in the kitchen isn’t very good. Solid old fashioned rings I would have thought they’d be very inefficient . Iits a great location and I’d stay there agin but please fix the bathroom tap .

  • "I booked Spring Rose Cottage for 3 nights as a base, during a half term visit to family who live in Northallerton/Bedale."

The cottage is in a great location, just a few minutes from the high street, and walking distance to the various cafes/shops/parks. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped, with comfortable beds. Thankyou for an enjoyable stay.

  • "My friends and I had a lovely stay."

The accommodation was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Location was ideal for the Main Street with its eateries and local shops. Note that most places stopped serving food at 7 or 8 pm. Had a hiccup with the heating, the owners came straight out to sort as soon as reported and left backup portable heaters should the system go down again.

Only let down was the welcome pack - this should include local walks, restaurant recommendations, bus timetables etc. not instructions on how to use the kettle…
