"Impeccably clean and sparkling accommodation in a former barn/shed conversion."
Kitchen/dining area light and airy but the lounge and bedroom a bit dark (natural nature of this type of conversion).
Generally very comfortable although settee probably needs replacing soon. Owner had problems with heating while we were there but provided us with electric radiators which were perfectly satisfactory for the time of year.

"We had a good stay not as good as we hoped for, the central heating was not working but we got an electric heater."
De kitchen was super! But the furniture was for us oap (81) not so good.
The first time we had no welcome pack.
But the surrounding was exellent!
I am very disappointed with the review of 3.0. The previous 30 reviews averaged 4.6.
1. The cottage boiler was being maintained by an appropriately qualified heating engineer. He had diagnosed a sticky diverter valve which was preventing the boiler from switching between heat and hot water. The system was being cleaned with chemicals and the engineer advised that the heating be switched off to ensure hot water. As it was May I accepted this advice but provided electric radiators for heat. I explained the position to the guests when they arrived and offered them another one of our cottages with 3 bedrooms, they declined.
2. Furniture - it is impossible to provide furniture which meets everyone's tastes.
3. Since guests have differing opinions on welcome packs, we decided to dispense with them and reduced prices by the saving. Again, I would point out that we provide coffee, sugar and tea bags.

"Great location, with lots of walks from the door."
The garden was excellent for the dog.
We had an issue with the hot water, but it was sorted as soon as possible, and alternative accommodation was offered while it was being fixed.
Although the location is obvious once you know where it is, what3words would have been helpful, as we spent about 30 minutes going up and down the main road and speaking to locals to find it.
The description states a smart TV, but it is not, so there is no ability to link to your providers or cast.
We will amend Sykes' website for directions to the property to make it clearer.
I do not know the difference between a TV and a smart TV and apologise for that. I did not write the property description. Again, we will amend the website. I would point out that the cottage has a full Sky TV package and the TV is capable of receiving Netflix and Amazon Prime.

"We had a lovely few nights here at the barn."
The garden was lovely and our dog loved watching the wildlife!
The rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of space. Would have expected some basic cooking condiments such as salt/pepper/oil, as there was tea and coffee. We did bring milk with us (arrived BH so not a lot open), which was useful, we have often stayed in places that have left a small milk.
We found the place a little hard to find on arrival as the directions pointed us from the opposite direction that we were travelling. There is a bus stop nearby, this could be used for navigational purposes.
Overall a few nice days, helped with great weather, and close to local attractions and walking routes.

"We loved staying in prospect barn ,sadly due to illness we had to cut short our stay by one day ."
However had I been feeling well our stay would have been superb .
The owner was friendly and very helpful and the barn beautiful .
The sofa and chairs for some would be wonderful but for us ageing folks they were a too low and not easy to get out of .
The views from the property were to die for and the whole village was a delight. Would recommend a stay here to anybody

"Lovely spot to be in and the Barn was very nice and clean."
Great enclosed garden for our puppy.
We think a great addition would be various board games/playing cards and books etc as there was nothing there. We went and bought a Scrabble game in Leyburn.
Also the glass chopping board will blunt knives and there wasn't a sharp knife for prepping food. So good knives and wooden boards would be a good addition.
Nice walks straight from the barn and two lovely pubs within walking distance was a bonus....oh and the village shop.
Thank you Derek for allowing us to change our dates last minute.

"What a great little find, we had a perfect week here and had no need to use the car at all with plenty of walks from the doorstep and plenty of places to eat out , with two excellent ones literally minutes away."
We have been to this area 5 times in the last 2 years to just enjoy the countryside and this really is a great place to stay.

"Excellent location, fantastic views, very comfortable bed, settee needs attention though, not very OAP friendly, also be nice to have a few books, games and videos in the barn, normally with sykes there's these things available in the rental."

"Very comfortable accommodation which we would have given 5 stars but for the accuracy of the listing."
It stated that there was a smart TV which isn't true. There is a normal TV with Sky Box attached so there were no catch-up options available and we weren't able to watch our subscription channels.
The second inconsistency was the parking. The listing states that the shared drive is wide enough for two cars whereas it is only wide enough for two small cars. We spent the whole holiday with a car parked in front of us. This wasn't a problem as they left before us but if we had had an emergency in the night we couldn't have got our car out!

It is very spacious, perfect for a couple and our dog D’Jango.
The garden is a serene place to relax and watch wildlife & take in the beauty of the dales. D’Jango loved the garden rabbits!
Very relaxing place in a great location for local attractions and wandering the many walks close by.

"We found the directions to Prospect Barn a bit confusing but as West Witton is a small village we walked down the main street until we found it."
The accommodation was great with a well equipped kitchen and a lovely garden to sit out in. The hosts were very obliging and a small problem with the shower was swiftly dealt with.
We had a drink at the Wensleydale Heifer in the village but found it to be very expensive as we had to pay £18 for a gin and tonic and a bottle of alcohol free beer!
We enjoyed our holiday and would recommend Prospect Barn to others.

"We had a Lovely 3 night stay, spotlessly clean, large rooms and well equipped."
Very large comfy bed too. Barn is in a great location, as we enjoy visiting Hawes and Leyburn and have wonderful dog walks from Buckden. (Shared Drive and Garden not to our liking, but no guests were staying in the larger property to the side of the barn so not an issue for us)
