Everything about this cottage was beyond perfect. We had a lovely holiday!

Thank you so much for the lovely review - it is really appreciated. We've tried hard to make the house as nice as we can and it makes us really happy when someone takes the time to let us know they have enjoyed their stay. Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us and for the very positive feedback. Property Owner

  • "Nice house, short walk to town centre, just enough room for 2 cars, one behind the other, on drive."

The weather was very cold, but the house was nice and warm. No complaints about wifi. Beds were very comfortable. Good price. Would definately stay again.

  • "A very well appointed and located cottage with a hospitable pack of basic amenities and drinks that made a warm welcome from the get go."

Ideally located with only a 7 minute walk to town centre and only 2 minutes to a riverside walk leading directly to country walks around Hardcastle Crag and Gibson Mill. Warm, cosy, plenty of parking and clear instructions for everything. The owners have clearly thought through in detail what guests might need. Would certainly return - unequivocally recommended.

  • "The property was a lovely little cottage."

Very well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Well located in the village. The host, Natalie, was a pleasure to deal with. She answered all of my questions, providing extra information above and beyond required. Natalie filled the kitchen with plenty of staples and treats to get us start when we arrived at the property. She very kindly allowed us to stay a little later so we could fit in one more hike in the Dales. Highly recommend a stay at Avaelie Too.

  • "We were very disappointed with the cottage."

Cheap furnishings in lounge. Would benefit from carpet. Disappointed with tv, could not get Netflix as stated. Worse thing of all is that all internal doors don’t fit properly. The bathroom door doesn’t close at all. Couldn’t fault the kitchen. Neighbour lovely.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Firstly, I am glad that you liked the kitchen, which is indeed very well equipped. I would like to reassure you and future guests that the sofas, furnishings are brand new and expensive. There are several brand new facilities available at the property, too, so we are unclear as to the reason for the low rating of facilities. With regards to the carpet, it is clearly shown in the photos that there is carpet upstairs and laminate flooring downstairs with a brand new wool rug. My account shows that Netflix was in working order for your stay, however if you had let me know of any issues with this, I would have done my best to assist you. The internal doors are also all brand new and were fitted by a local professional joiner, whas been informed of your comments and, on inspection of the property, all doors close fully, with the exception of the kitchen to living room door. This has expanded slightly since fitting due to the wet summer weather and he is returning to rectify this as soon as the property is vacant. I always welcome suggestions to improve the property and leave a book for this purpose. If I had been contacted at any point during your stay, I would have loved to have had the opportunity to put things right for you at the time. Property Owner

The property

This small, picturesque Pennine market town sits in a unique location.

Popular with tourists and residents alike, with a vibrant arts scene, as well as festivals held throughout the year, there is something for everybody to enjoy.

But very few properties boast a position like Avaelie Too, which is essential for the discerning traveller.

Avaelie Too is located on a quiet street with no through traffic.

At the end of the street is the River Hebden and a small packhorse bridge which leads to woodland and riverside walks.

On arrival, park off-road on your own small drive by the front door, secure in the knowledge that the parking space is yours for the entire stay.

Enter the house through the front door and step into the centrally-heated, inviting living room that houses a Smart TV with Netflix, and an electric fire perfect for those chilly evenings.

There is a kitchen/diner, complete with a ceramic hob, dishwasher, washer, fridge /freezer, plus a kettle and toaster.

All essential kitchen and dining equipment is provided for those wishing to self-cater, though many guests prefer to sample the many eateries that are within easy walking distance.

There are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and a second with a double, both with ample storage and mirrors, whilst the bathroom comprises a bath with a shower over.

At the front is a small south-facing garden and a driveway with picnic bench.

When then weather permits it, enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine whilst you watch the world go by.

At the rear, a small, private patio with picnic table and chairs is also available, where an extending washing line is on-hand, should it be needed.

In Hebden Bridge, you will find St George’s Square, and beyond that, the 500-year-old Packhorse Bridge, which gives the town it’s name.

Be sure to stop by the many independent shops, pubs, real ale bars, restaurants and street cafes in Hebden Bridge, or even the open-air market, which runs from Thursday to Sunday.

A pleasant stroll along the canal is also a must when you’re in town, with the waterway formerly used for transport and now home to a fleet of picturesque barges.

For a relaxing evening, book tickets to enjoy a performance at The Picture House or the Little Theatre.

For walkers there is spectacular scenery in all directions, with many hidden gems to discover.

The National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill are worth a visit, especially when the Blue Pig pub is open.

A brief car trip will bring you to Halifax, which boasts the Grade I listed property of Georgian Piece along with an array of independent shops, the Eureka!

The National Children's Museum, and the free-to-visit Dean Clough art gallery.

Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister, the Bankfield museum, and Cliffe Castle are all must-see attractions whilst you’re in town.

Further afield, short drive across The Moors will take you to Haworth, which offers visitors a chance to stop by the Brontë Parsonage Museum.

Close by you also hop on board the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Train Railway.

For a relaxing home-from-home, choose a stay at Avaelie Too.
