  • "Lovely house with terrific views over the valley."

    Plenty of cutlery, crockery and glasses. Comfy beds and lovely bathroom. Plenty of space for 7 people. There was a small issue when I arrived however this was swiftly sorted by the owner. The door from the hallway to the dining room doesn’t shut properly thereby making it difficult to keep the dogs in the hallway at night. It is on a busy road and parking is limited however there is a car park a few yards away at the playing fields.

  • "Superb comfortable and well equipped cottage."

    Chose Valley View for a short break with my sister who was visiting UK from Australia and we both thought the cottage was excellent and could not fault it. Ideally located for exploring the Dales and would not hesitate to book again if in the same area. Unfortunately we left a couple of items on the day of our departure and the property owner, Charles, rang us the same day to advise of this and offered to post these back to us: great service!

  • "Finished to a very high standard."

    Very clean, so comfortable and felt like we were at home! Nice quiet location, so plan your catering ahead. Location though quiet its convenient for lots of places of interest. Slightly larger fridge may help larger parties but we managed. Can't really fault. Had a wonderful time with 7 of us!

  • "We’ve just returned from a weekend with friends at valley view and had such a lovely time."

    The accommodation is beautiful and was wonderfully equipped for all, including four small children. We would definitely recommend and would stay again.

  • "Fantastic property with everything that you need for a short stay."

    Would like to point out however that on our arrival as we were having a look around someone came into the back garden and into the shed, not sure who this was but they left the gate open - luckily I noticed it was open before the dogs did. The door to the shed was left open again but thankfully the back gate closed this time. Would definitely book again though

  • "Fantastic property - very comfortable and well equipped, exactly as described!"

    Having a shower in the bathroom, as well as the one in the en-suite, would have helped our party of 4 separate adults, but overall a great find!

  • "Great location with 2 excellent pubs in village."

    Great walking direct from doorstep so no need to use car. Lots of space for 7 adults and a dog. Well-equipped kitchen. Fully informed of issues ahead of visit by owner which we appreciated . Loved the decor. Very comfortable

  • "Lovely cottage, the owner was so considerate and helpful."

    As soon as we booked they sent us a message to let us know about the travel cot and highchair available for our infant, and even left some toys and books out for our children to play with. Would recommend booking for anyone looking for a break away in beautiful surroundings.

  • "Clearly the issue with the toilet wasn't ideal."

    We had to clean many of the pans and oven trays before we used them and there were one or two areas of the house that could benefit from a more thorough clean. For example under sofas, windows. Overall beautiful house, lovely garden and stunning location.

  • "We stayed at Valley View after being relocated from another Sykes property."

    It was lovely and everything we expected. We had two cars but only able to park one actually at the property but we located a great parking area just a short walk down at the children’s park/community hall, so off main road. Would certainly stay again.

  • "Cottage was brilliant for a family gathering."

    The only thing we would like to see improved is that the main bathroom didn’t have a full shower so everyone used the one in the en-suite. The cottage was spotless and had everything we could have needed including plenty of board games and wine glasses and a log fire just in case of a wet day.

Middleham 6 miles; Leyburn 4 miles; Hawes 13 miles.

The pretty and ancient Wensleydale village of West Witton is situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, between Leyburn and Hawes. A traditional old village made up of stone-built cottages and farmhouses, West Witton enjoys dramatic views of Penhill and its limestone scars, along with Bolton Castle, lush rolling countryside and the surrounding fells. The village boasts two pubs, one of which is a gourmet pub and has been awarded the Wensleydale Heifer 2006/07 AA 'England's best seafood pub' award, as well as a well stocked village shop and a pretty green.
