2. The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop

Legend has it that the iconic Bakewell tart was accidentally made in the town’s local inn, when founder of The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, Mrs Wilson, former tenant at the The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, saw the potential these puddings had, secured the secret recipe and went underway with her businesses.

Today, you can choose to dine within the superb restaurant and treat yourself to a three-course lunch or a delightful afternoon tea. For those on the go, they also have a take-away delicatessen offering a range of sandwiches, toasties, soups and salad boxes. For a truly unique experience, test the kitchen and bake yourself an Original Bakewell Pudding yourself to take home.

3. The Old Smithy

Boasting a warm welcome within a building full of character is the family-run business, The Old Smithy Tearooms. Perched on the outskirts of Bakewell’s town centre within the village of Monyash, this former blacksmith café offers locally sourced hot and cold snacks promising quality and value. It is home to the famous “Smithy’s Breakfast”, award-winning ice-cream and even pints of coffee for the thirsty warn-out cyclist. One of our favourite Bakewell cafés.
