  • "Judging by the previous reviews, I doubt the owner will do anything as some issues we encountered were mentioned in reviews last year."

I left a note detailing issues I felt dealing with before the next guests arrived, namely badly leaking kitchen tap, light bulbs needing replacing, a badly fitted downstairs bathroom door which was difficult to lock, and a large hob on the oven that was defective. Add to that a cracked cafetierre, cobwebs galore, dust on many surfaces, a missing TV remote and curtains which had lost various hooks and it seems a shame that the labour of love in the development by the owners didn't extend to the upkeep of the property. The information provided in the property was seriously out of date, refering to COVID details and that the maintenance man was on holiday for a week in Sept 2021. We spent some time trying to find a thermostat which didn't exist (mentioned in said information) so consequently struggled with heating (and it was quite cold last week). The beds weren't particularly comfy, and the bedside 'tables' are mainly taken up with lights which are fixed in position so no room for a cup of tea in the morning. The 'fabulous' kitchen isn't brilliant and some pans were missing lids; some lids were filthy, a spatula came apart on our hands, and the extractor above the hob needs cleaning. The 'lovely' fountain in the description wasn't working and had 4 small pots of flowers on its rather large base....it was lit up in a blue light at night! The TV isn't SMART which I would consider a given these days for a property at this price. At least we had toilet rolls and the WiFi code which is more than the people next door had! All of that said, there's a lovely outdoor space if you can take advantage of it (too cold for us this week), and the water was piping hot. We appreciated the cake, prosecco and milk. We wouldn't return. It is too expensive and too many basic faults. I was surprised at Sykes 4 star rating.

Children had an amazing time playing with the family next door - it was quiet and safe for them. As a family of young children I really appreciated the washing facilities!

Lovely stone cottage comfortable and very cosy. Some cobwebs behind the doors and a leaking kitchen tap but these were minor issues. It also would have been nice to have a bath in the property. Overall well equipped, lovely welcome package and comfortable beds and sofas.

A little spoilt for us with DOGS in the adjacent cottages after the advert specified NO DOGS, Three times during our stay we had DOGS in our open door

  • "Property could be 5*."

Location excellent. Equipment & comfort excellent. But deeper cleaning was needed & a lack of maintenance in so much expelair still not working in upstairs bathroom where there is no opening window. Various lights not working & tumble dryer so full of fluff caused the fire alarm to go off. Shame but we didn't allow it to spoil our holiday

  • "Really nice property and great location."

Would definitely come back again and recommend. However, there were one or two details that needed attention. These included the top shelf of the dishwasher; the tap in the kitchen; and the shower head holder. It would have been good to have had some means of reporting these whilst we were there. Otherwise, no complaints at all.

If you have a problem the pleasant caretaker comes asap and puts it right. Nothing negative at all- except I was too small to reach the top cupboards

Excellent facilities apart from the shower head holder bar bracket upstairs which needs replacing as extremely loose and does not stay in place. Fabulous time and would return next year.

  • "An excellent cottage let down by a few niggles, mainly to do with how original build was kitted out."

Taps that dribbled in use, or were very stiff, shower head that would not stay in position. These were very minor compared with everything else that was excellent. Would recommend to anyone, excellent location, beautifully quiet. Shame that the communal laundry was closed.

  • "Considering the required gap of seven hours between the guest vacating the property and the new occupants arriving for cleaning purposes, the property sadly was in not very clean, there was dust and cobwebs everywhere and the the toilet bowls could have done with a bit of bleach, also the furniture was starting to look it’s age."

Also more crockery and cutlery would have been an advantage. We have styed here a number of times and but this was a bit of a disappointment.

  • "Your description of the property stated no pets or children under 14 yrs."

It wasn't clear as to whether this meant the neighbouring accommodations too. On arrival we were met with an extended family in the adjoining properties who were having a good noisy time and sat outside our property talking loudly. Obviously we weren't expecting this, in fact, we were ready to come home. However things got better as we got to know our neighbours and at least it was quiet at night! The property was very spacious and cosy but there were cobwebs in the lounge and remnants of the previous holiday makers. The upstairs shower drain needed a plunger. So our first impressions weren't brilliant but we did have a good holiday. The welcome pack was really appreciated.

  • "Good location for beach, shops, restaurants."

Helpful friendly caretaker who is always on hand and easy to contact. Clean accommodation and very comfortable furnishings. Good heating system out of season. Small issue with repairs in the cottages as they are not always promptly put right eg: shower head that does not tilt so is not directional, no soap dish in the shower as it is broken. plugs that do not stay down when the lever is pressed. Comments often left in the communication book by people, but not read or addressed. Despite all of this it still meets our needs as a couple on respite holidays and as a family with a disabled daughter.
