  • "I had a brilliant week staying at The Old Sawmill in November 2021."

The place suited me perfectly, the owners were very helpful and best of all, a nightly visit from a Pine Marten! Glenborrodale and the surrounding area of Ardnamurchan is absolutely stunning, especially in it's autumn colour, and this cottage is the perfect base to explore!

  • "The cottage was very tired and is in need of a complete overhaul sadly disappointed for the price"

Thank you for your feedback. The cottage was built in the 1800's and therefore does have its quirks. Since we purchased the property late October 2019, we have put in a new log burner, purchased a new king size bed, new bed linen and towelling throughout. During late 2020, when covid restrictions were lifted slightly, we installed a brand new bathroom suite, including an electric dual shower, new tiling and flooring. We were due to replace all the windows during 2021, however, with as a result of the pandemic, this has had to be delayed until 2022. The cottage is cleaned thoroughly by local agents with extra cleaning in place during the pandemic. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was perfectly situated with easy access to places of interest in Ardnamurchan."

Sawmill Cottage has a fabulous garden which attracts an amazing array of wildlife, including PINEMARTINS and it is perfect for garden-bird watchers. We had everything we needed in the cottage, we were all cosy & comfortable, given we had three adults and two teenagers in our party. It was lovely to have our own rocky bay to explore at the end of the driveway and there are plenty of places to explore from the doorstep.

  • "Wildlife viewing exceeded expectations - however the cottage itself needs complete refurbishment."

I have every sympathy with the cleaning staff trying to bring the cottage up to a reasonable standard for guests to enjoy.

  • "Just what I was hoping for, peace and quiet and simple, but comfortable, with care taken with all the arrangements and clear information."

The bottle of wine was very welcome!

  • "The Old Sawmill is a cosy retreat set in beautiful gardens with deer, pine Martens and birds for scenery."

It’s clean and well equipped and has everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It’s very private, there’s plenty of parking and as long as you don’t mind single track roads, an ideal base for discovering Loch Sunart and the Ardnamurchan peninsular. The whole booking experience with Sykes was very easy and we received plenty of notifications from Sykes and the owners with regards to COVID procedures and how to negotiate the cottage. I would definitely recommend Sykes for cottage bookings and would return to the Old Sawmill if we plan to stay in that area again.

  • "So peaceful and quiet."

Pine martens and various birds viSited the garden every day. No glass recycling from cottage but there is a bottle bank in nearby Acharacle so we dropped them off there on trips out.
