  • "Cosy cottage in centre of a gorgeous town, so very close to great pubs and restaurants - Joanna worked hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible."

  • "The property was in an excellent location, very quiet and the garden was lovely to sit in."

The beds were very comfortable. However, we found the cottage lacked attention to detail in many areas. For example....the cottage felt quite tired, scuffed and chipped paintwork in places, empty bottle of bleach in the bathroom, no dessert spoons in kitchen therefore we had to eat with tablespoons, poor kitchen equipment, dirty grout around the shower and the blind didn't work properly in bathroom. But the main problem we encountered was the overall cleanliness of the property. The cottage was quite dusty especially under the bed where lots of hair and dust were very visible. Lots of spider webs in corners in the lounge were visible and unfortunately it just didn't feel like a deep clean had been done prior to our visit.

Thank you for your feedback. We have raised these points with the owner and she is going to investigate with her housekeeper. She has said to pass on her apologies that the property was not up to its usual high standard. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "The owners are friendly and hospitable."

The cottage was clean comfortable and beautiful. We found taking a shower difficult as one of the bathrooms does not have a shower screen, and there is nowhere to hold on to as one steps out of the slippery bath. ( We are older, at 73 and 80 and 81 years old, so in retrospect we should have looked at this before booking the cottage.) Nonetheless, we had a marvellous time in Chipping Camden, visiting gardens and going to concerts, and thank the owners very much for their hospitality.

Thank you for sharing your comments, we're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed all that Chipping Campden has to offer. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We loved the cottage and Joanna was so friendly and helpful."

The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was the difficulty of the really small kitchen, and 4 adults, and from Sykes description we hadn't realised that the garden wasn't exclusively for the cottage. This didn't matter as the balcony is lovely, but it should be made clear in the cottage description.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Sorry for the confusion with the garden. We have updated the description as you suggested. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Chipping Campden is a beautiful village with great shops, pubs and restaurants but without being commercialised like some of the larger towns in the Cotswolds. Ideal for 2 couples with 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Loved sitting out on the decking in the sun even in October. Joanne the owner very helpful and friendly.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed exploring Chipping Campden and all it has to offer. We hope to welcome you back again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The very pretty town of Chipping Camden is perfect for touring the Cotswolds which we did by bus! It is a very pretty town with lots of good restaurants and a very interesting history. Joanna (host) is noted as being very helpful and friendly in the visitor’s comment book in the cottage and this proved to be exactly the case for us. She engaged with our child, invited her to play with her own children, and gave us great tips on local events such as Shakespeare’s birthday on 23rd April and its celebration within Stratford-Upon-Avon. Some excellent tips regarding locals pubs and takeaways also given.

  • "Kettle Cottage was both comfortable and attractive."

The owners were friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. The best thing about it was its location in the middle of Chipping Campden, with a good choice of eateries on the doorstep, and beautiful walks and places to visit nearby. The only disadvantage was the very small kitchen, which made "eating-in" a bit tricky, but that was not unexpected as the listing and reviews made it clear that the cottage was fairly compact downstairs. Upstairs, the bedrooms and bathrooms were very spacious, which suited us very well. We also loved the private decking area.

Joanna and her family were the perfect hosts, and simply could not do enough to ensure that we were having a good time and that all of our needs were met. The cottage itself is lovely, particularly the upstairs bedrooms and the terrace, which got great sunshine. The local area is absolutely stunning and there is so much to do within a short walk or car journey. One of our highlights was a visit to Little Oaks Vineyard just outside of Chipping Camden. The local recreation ground is also a real find, with plenty of room for the children to play and the adults to exercise. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anybody looking for a relaxing peaceful break in the heart of the Cotswolds. Thank you Joanna for your wonderful hospitality and an excellent stay.

It is tucked away to the back of Kettle House. Downstairs is small, especially the kitchen, but it has everything you’d need for a break away and is plenty big enough for a family of four or indeed two couples. Upstairs is more spacious with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Off one bedroom is the fabulous verandah (also reached via steps from the garden) which has idyllic views over the shared garden, neighbouring gardens and the nearby church. We spent many a happy hour here enjoying a glass of something in the sunshine! Joanna, the owner who lives in Kettle House, is a delight to deal with and is so friendly and helpful. All in all it was a great stay.

Joanna will be pleased to hear to you had a great stay and that you were able to enjoy the verandah with its idyllic views. Many thanks Manor Cottages Property Owner

The upstairs rooms are most spacious and light, and the little terrace off the main bedroom is so peaceful; downstairs the living/dining area is large though slightly dark, and warm enough in a damp August with the occasional use of the electric fire. There are no buses that we could see so if you need to visit any surrounding areas a car is needed. The cottage itself was very nice and the welcome by the hosts excellent and very friendly. They couldn't do enough for us. There was some ingredients in the kitchen cupboards which was good and Joanna left us some biscuits - thank you. The kitchen is rather small and not conducive to cooking a meal but when you're on holiday, you don't need that. That bedrooms were lovely with the added bonus of a terrace for our use off the back bedroom. The garden was really nice. Thank you for making us feel at home.

  • "The cottage is lovely and spacious upstairs, although we found the mattress in the second bedroom tired and uncomfortable."

The cottage is very small downstairs! Kitchen is tiny. We were disappointed to find out we might not have use of the garden as the cottage is attached to the owners’ property and use of the garden would therefore be subject to the owners not using it. Fortunately they were away while we stayed and therefore could use the garden. If this was disclosed on the website we would not have booked the cottage. The lounge has a flame effect, electric ‘wood burner’ which was also disappointing. Good location though and enjoyed the quietness as the cottage is at the back of the property and away from the road.

The property

What a sweet and historic cottage!

Kettle Cottage, literally, is a gem of a holiday home tucked down a little cobbled alley off the Chipping Campden High Street.

With records dating back many hundreds of years, this archetypal bolt hole was originally where the locals used to come to get their kettles mended, in fact today on the High Street you'll see a huge wall mounted kettle outside the main house!

Now, instead of mending kettles, you can walk in under a minute to view an art gallery, enjoy a meal, a coffee or be enjoying a bracing walk on the Cotswold Way.

Inside, the cottage is simply but well furnished, compact and ideal for two but able to accommodate four (there are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs*).

The rooms upstairs are large and light.

It is a lovely little cottage in one of the Cotswolds most attractive and popular locations.

Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique.
