  • "Tranquil Tides is actually a small ground floor flat in a dilapidated terraced house in a very run-down area of Weymouth."

No wonder you don’t put pictures of the outside on the web. Inside, it had the slightly damp, fusty smell I remember from student flats. All the fixtures and fittings feel like they have been done on the super cheap. For example the mattress was so awful it gave both of us backache and the TV isn’t actually connected to an aerial, making just catching the news headlines hard work. As for tranquil. Every night we were treated to drunks shouting and swearing on the pavement inches from the lounge window. We also got lots of noise from surrounding flats and people going up and down the stairs to the flat above. We hated it so much we went home early for some creature comforts and a decent night’s sleep. P.S. The nearest parking is very expensive and the more affordable parking is a good walk away (again, not quite as advertised)

We are sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay at our property, or in Weymouth in general, it would seem. Although we very much welcome reviews which include constructive criticism on which we can act, your review was, we feel, disappointingly unfair and unjust, as is borne out by other reviewers below who say they have very much enjoyed their stays. The standard of our property is neither “dilapidated” nor “super cheap”, which is why Dream Cottages have rated it with 4-ticks, indicating that it meets the high standards they quite rightly expect. • "Very clean and well decorated and furnished."

Layout of apartment wasn't ideal, with bathroom at far end off kitchen and lounge next to living room. The stairs to upper apartments made it noisy as the stairs are directly above ground floor apartment. The location was ideal, very close to the front. WiFi was awful, which made relaxing to watch TV in evening not possible some evenings. The TV programme wouldn't work, no access to terrestrial TV stations either. We really appreciated the welcome hamper and agree with other guests that it was one the best we've had, thank you. Maintenance is needed on the kitchen patio doors as only one side of the double doors locks and the kitchen window was permanently open on the security lock. It couldn't be closed. It was nice to have a small patio area but it wasn't a nice environment to relax in, quite dirty and in need of sprucing up.

  • "Lovely apartment."

Clean, comfortable & modern, we loved it. The welcome pack was a nice surprise & one of the best we’ve had. The apartment itself is very close to all Weymouth has to offer & just a stone’s throw away from the beach too. Definitely recommend.

Thanks so much for your fab review! We are so pleased you had such a great holiday in wonderful Weymouth and that you loved the apartment! So glad you enjoyed the welcome hamper with all the Dorset goodies! Thanks again, and we really hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to Tranquil Tides again soon. Property Owner

  • "Property was good."

Surprised at the small size of the courtyard for a dog friendly cottage. TV was dreadful as was internet service. Shame as this was the only entertainment in the evening. Position of property was superb. Great access to the prom. Overall a pleasant stay but would not use again with a dog.

  • "The flat itself was lovely, well decorated and comfortable."

You needed for nothing in the kitchen and the bathroom was great. Bedroom was small but space for clothes and a large set of draws. Lovely little courtyard, just needed a little tidying up. Absolutely lovely place just a short walk from the front. My one little criticism was that when we pulled up the front looked very tired and needed a good coat of paint. But once inside it was lovely.

Thanks so much for your kind review and for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found the apartment well equipped and comfortable. You will be pleased to know that we and our neighbours are planning to paint the exterior of the house in the autumn, so if we hopefully have the chance to welcome you back in the future, we should be all spruced up outside! Thanks again, and hope to see you soon. Property Owner

  • "We had just a fantastic long weekend away staying at Tranquil Tides!"

The apartment is beautiful and immaculately presented! It really has everything you need, and very easy to pull the car up outside to unload with several long stay parking options only a short walk away. For a cold January, the apartment was so cosy and warm! The beach is literally a 2 minute walk away, as are a huge choice of restaurants and bars - pretty much all of which are dog friendly! Thank you for the walking books! There are so many fabulous walks nearby, the apartment is a perfect base for exploring! We will definitely be back and recommending to friends! Thank you! x

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review ... very much appreciated. We were delighted you had such a great stay at Tranquil Tides; you were our first winter guests so we were very pleased to hear you were cosy and warm! We very much look forward to welcoming you back - come in the warm weather so you can enjoy the sun-trap courtyard, too! Thanks again, and hope to see you soon. Property Owner

  • "Noise in the property ruined my holiday."

Constant banging from upstairs an neighbours. Bedroom noise in the early hours from upstairs and through wall opposite bed. Sounded like heavy furniture been dragged and dropped on the floors. also sounds of bottles rolled along the floor. Woken every morning between 6.20am 6.30am with upstairs bounding down the stairs like an elephant and slamming the front door enough to make wall shake. The door and stairs also went on throughout day. Had i of been able to get someone to pick me up on the tuesday, due to lack of sleep, i would of left then. Unfortunately i had t suffer until Friday. I have terminal cancer and disabilities so was glad to get home for a rest.

We were very sorry to hear you were so disappointed in your recent stay, and we were very upset to read your scathing review. We do sincerely hope your comments were not influenced by the fact we had to check with you if anyone had been smoking in our apartment, after the smell of cigarette smoke was noticed coming from the apartment during your stay. With regard to the noise issues you mention, we are rather at a loss, as in the ten years we have owned the apartment we have never heard anything from the apartments upstairs (all the floors are sound-proofed), nor anything from the properties on either side. We have absolutely delightful neighbours and only occasionally hear them when they use the stairs and hallway, as one would expect from apartment-living. Property Owner
