The sunny back garden is a superb spot for the kids to play as it is secure and boasts a lush lawn, and a charcoal BBQ is provided as an alternative to eating in.

Your amenities are extremely close, giving you everything you need at your fingertips; a short walk will bring you to the Ramsgate’s ‘picture postcard’ marina and port, the only Royal Harbour in the country, and two sandy beaches, one each side of the port.

Ramsgate enjoys two wonderfully maintained Victorian promenades, to the West, your stroll will take you past the town’s four croquet lawns and bowls greens, both open to the public and Government Acre, a beautiful open space that often features visiting attractions, amusement rides and fayres at weekends, and to the East, your promenade walk will take you to one of the towns’ vast public parks which features a daytime café and famous Italianate Greenhouse, which sells cream teas for most of the year.

At sea level, you will find the entrance to the famous Ramsgate tunnels, a vast 2.5 miles of tunnels under the town, which gave shelter to the 20,000 town’s folk during WW2, guided tours can be booked throughout out the year.

Ramsgate is the pearl in the crown of east Kent and Thanet and The Royal Harbour is surrounded by places of historic interest, cafes, wine bars, restaurants and antique shops.

A little further, a day out can be enjoyed at Dover castle, Canterbury Cathedral, the Chaucer’s Tales living museum or an evening at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.

For the more active, bicycles can be hired at the Royal Harbour to follow the cycle track around the Isle of Thanet, or maybe a round of golf on one of the many courses within a few miles of Ramsgate is more to your liking.

About the location

RAMSGATE, KENT

Broadstairs 2 miles; Margate 5 miles; Canterbury 17 miles.

Ramsgate is a wonderful blend of maritime heritage, architectural splendour and a touch of cosmopolitan pizzazz, which was once the favoured seaside resort town of a young Queen Victoria. Why not dine alfresco and watch the yachts sail in and out of the marina, or stroll along the promenade to the harbour, the only royal harbour in the country, and choose something tasty from one of the boats landing their daily catch? For those who like nostalgia, a visit to the Pinball Parlour where you can try out the vintage machines, or to Vinyl Head Coffee to browse through the extensive selection of vinyl records, whilst enjoying delicious coffee and cake, is sure to invoke memories. There is also the world-famous Morelli’s in Broadstairs, which is said to serve the best gelato outside of Italy! Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to the beach, with 15 beaches and bays between Pegwell Bay and Reculver renowned for their sand and awarded 3 Blue Flags and 7 Quality Coast Awards. Watersports are a popular draw all year round, with many skilled and experienced instructors who will take you surfing, snorkelling, diving, boating and kite surfing. For golf lovers, Ramsgate is well served by some of the best courses in the UK (Royal St. George’s - Open venue, Royal Cinque Ports and North Foreland). Whether it be beach combing, golf, boat rides, watersports or a relaxing gourmet getaway, Ramsgate has it all to offer. For the more energetic, there’s the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent. With excellent restaurants serving local delicacies, including Ramsgate Harbour Brasserie and the Empire Room, to food from around the world alongside traditional English pubs, you are never far from your gastronomic desire either. And for those (occasional!) rainy days, why not visit the Granville Cinema or the quirky Palace Cinema in Broadstairs, where the organist co-owner regular performs film music of days gone by before the showing? Also, The Tunnels visitor attraction, an insight into wartime Britain, is highly recommended.
