  • "Generally speaking our stay was very nice."

The lodge was lovely, clean and comfortable. The fireplace was really nice to have. The camp was quiet enough most nights. The location was great being so close to Windermere. The forest surroundings and lake front were nice to be right next to during the day. A welcome booklet would have been nice so we could familiarise ourselves with what's available in the lodge and in the park. The supplied kitchen cooking equipment could do with an update. The trees surrounding the lodge are quite loud with owls and other birds scrapping at night. If it rains or the wind blows you'll find the roof of the lodge quite thin and noisy as we did. The dog smell in the living area was a little bit of a let down but to be fair I booked a lodge that is pet friendly so I wasn't surprised by it. What I was surprised by is a dirty sock, used lighter and various other bits of trash hiding between the couch cushions and underneath. I'd suggest just asking the cleaners to pull it out once in a while to tidy up. The park's bar, restaurant and swimming facilities were probably the biggest let down. Not enough staff, poor quality food, lots of insects stuck inside the restaurant and the pool. The arcade and shop were ok. Another thing I suppose not the fault of the lodge or the park but something to be aware of is that the local taxis appear really understaffed. Especially on Sunday. So I wouldn't plan to rely on them.

  • "Nice place with comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen, inc washing up stuff and pods for dishwasher."

Loss of water pressure for a short while on Sunday morning which we assumed might be due to high demand. No welcome pack or information leaflet. Enjoyed our stay and would return.

  • "The caravan is very well-equipped, clean and comfortable."

There were cleaning supplies, handwash, washing-up liquid, toilet rolls etc, which was very helpful. The only minor issues were no pillow or mattress protectors, and the kitchen bin was dirty and wet under the bag when we came to empty it, so had obviously been missed. Otherwise, all spotless. I only gave it 4 stars because the site facilities are a bit hit and miss, with bar and food staff who probably need a bit more training and a very limited shop. I would give the accommodation 5 stars.

  • "Really enjoyed our time here."

We took our 6 month old puppy and 4 children and didnt feel crammed in as it was very spacious. It was so rainy during our time here, but i always made sure i had lots of things put down to cover the floor and carpet as it was so lightly coloured, when the children were trailing in and out. The patio furniture would have been a welcome addition if the weather had been good, but my point of saying this was it was so much better than the original picnic bench shown in the booking photos. We would definately go back to this property, it was in a good location on the park and we all loved it.

Facilities on site were generally good although on site pool was quite time restricted but owner provides access to a health club a few min down the road. A great spot for visiting lots of locations in the surrounding area

The property was really spacious and well equipped and we would definitely go back but a few negatives were there was a water stain on the settee and also the carpet between the bedrooms was wet on arrival and smelt because of this also there are some damp on the net curtains which would be better if replaced

Thank you for your review. we hope you enjoyed your stay and are glad to hear you would return. We will be looking into removing the net curtains permanently in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely lodge visited with our daughter, two grandchildren and 2 Cocker Spaniels."

It was very welcoming, warm and cosy after a 1hr30mins drive . The lodge was well very equipped with everything you might need for up to 8 persons. It central heating supplied by a gas combi boiler. It was very clean and spacious for 3 adults and 2 children. It didn’t look very old and the owners use it themselves. It had a master bedroom with full size double bed and en-suite bathroom with a nice roomy shower. The 2 other bedrooms had good size single beds. There was a second bathroom with shower opposite the two smaller bedrooms. The large L shaped settee, in the lounge, could also be made into a double bed creating 8 beds in total. There was a large wall mounted tv in the lounge area and a decent size wall mounted tv in the master bedroom. Outside there was a fenced off L shaped decking area with a table and chairs. A really nice touch was near to the entrance door was an outside hose which is ideal for washing off muddy boots. Also there was a cabinet which contains a shower mixer unit with hose and shower head supplying hot and cold water, brilliant for washing off muddy paws. Furnishings and carpets are very light coloured and we took plenty of covers with us to protect them from our pets. White Cross Bay is a lovely site on the edge of the lake with good amenities . The weather was not great for the first couple of days, however we still had a good time. There is a children’s play area with some swings and things to climb. There was MUGA (multi use games area) where kids could kick a ball around safely. There is a small indoor swimming pool that can get very busy at certain times. A small well stocked shop on site. The club house is good and the selection of food and drinks was good and quite reasonably priced. We have no hesitation in recommending this lodge and site and would defiantly consider returning to this lodge for a future break. Loved the area, so handy for Bowness and Ambleside. Carol. • "We absolutely love our stay at this lodge."

It was like a home away from home. So clean and and cozy, with everything we could possible need. The only thing I would say is, that most of the mattresses are need of an upgrade as we did not have a very comfy sleep. However I would still rate it 5 star and would definitely love to come back to this exact lodge next time!

Thank you for your comments, we are so pleased to hear that you found the lodge to be cosy and clean! We do find that mattresses are down to personal preference. We look forward to welcoming you back again. Property Owner
