  • "Lovely cottage in a great location just outside Hawes."

Games room a massive hit . Those posting comments about light etc need to understand this is a farmhouse style cottage and appreciate it as it is! Very roomy inside, warm and comfortable - will definitely be coming back!

That’s so good to hear . We have 5 cottages and I just love Roofstones . We may be stopping Roofstones next year with Sykes as it’s very upsetting when guests put such bad reviews when simple things just need a phone call . Like a switch accidentally being switched off . Hope to see you again and ring us direct . Thanks Property Owner

  • "There was no hot water for our entire stay."

When we reported this via the app on day 1 we did not get a reply until the evening and this was just to say they would come and have a look in the morning. They did not come before we checked out, meaning we all left without showering. Further contact with them on this issue was rude and extremely unprofessional. Many pots, pans and cups were dirty and the house was really dark.

Sorry your entire stay of 2 nights . I’m not sure who turned the hot water off but a flick of the switch you would have had hot water , or like in the guest book we live 50 yards away . We would have soon put it right . And our phone number is in the guests book . Property Owner

  • "Such a shame, for another cottage with what could be great amenities we were let down by the cleanliness."

The bathrooms were in great disrepair especially the shower. The outside area was very unkempt and we were tossed a disgusting bbq. Ignored numerous times by the owner. Very dirty. Location is great but really let down by the host. We wouldn’t return.

Sorry we never saw you during your stay as you were out when we knocked .we certainly didn’t toss a BBQ , we put it under a tree as it was raining . We left you the tools for the BBQ too and the BBQ was our own as we do not advertise BBQ’s . And responded to your request the next day . After asking for compensation it’s a shame you have had to slate us . And we called round to the house many times in the rain but you were not in . Property Owner

About the location

HAWES

Leyburn 16 miles.

Hawes is a popular market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the town is an excellent centre for walking and touring Wensleydale and the adjoining dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale. Take a walk around the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way or along the River Ure, which is nearby. In 1998 Hawes was awarded the English Tourist Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Trip Out". Modern traffic has long replaced coaches and horse drawn wagons along its narrow streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers’ auction attracting sheep farmers from all over the north of England. Traditional shops, cafés and inns now cater for a variety of Dales visitors as well as the local community. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by the animated Wallace and Grommit films, is now open to visitors so that they can see the famous cheese being made and sample the end product in a welcoming café. In the old station yard you will find the busy National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum. The Museum is home to the magnificent collection of Dales artefacts by the two great Dales historians and writers, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby.
