It is very comfortable and feels more spacious than the pictures suggest. It is very well equipped and cleverly designed (by Simon) Simon was very friendly and helpful with good suggestions for local walks. Although the lodge is a few metres from the house we had complete privacy. The village is small and tranquil but well served with a cosy pub serving good food and a small store selling the basics. Also a private pool is available for hire. The are us fantastic for wildlife. Within minutes of arriving we’d seen herons, cormorants, kingfishers and an otter. I can not recommend this cottage enough.
“As we visited in March and obviously had dark evenings of the 7 nights we were there we stayed in fro 5 of them so entertainment was necessary.”
I think guests should be made aware that the TV on the BBC channels were extremely patchy. The locals are lovely people and we had two nice meals and sampled The Whitehorse Inn’s real ale, which they brew them selves. I would suggest that prior to travelling you sign up to become a member as this gives you various discounts on their food. The Fish and Chips and Gammon were especially good. Eccles on Sea is an amazing beach and frequented only by those in the know! Look for the sign that says Eccles on sea which heads to a car park and RNLI station. Do NOT enter via the pothole lanes as these are horrendous but will entertain the residents! Hiring of day boats, when we went in middle March, was not available.
“Loved the cottage - it was cosy, warm, clean, well-equiped, comfortable and beautifully presented.”
Great quiet location in delightful village but with coast and broads easily accessible. Perfect hosts too - friendly and non- intrusive. I had a terrific stay in Violet Lodge
“Lodge is comfortable.”
Realised before booking that was set out in open plan, however not clear that bedroom is not a separate room. Shower and toilet accessible with useful seat in the shower. Consideration should be given to installing a hand rail to provide support/reassurance for someone less able when entering the shower area.
“Violet Lodge is in a quiet village with a general store and pub, which serves food, at the end of the street.”
The owners are very welcoming, and the cake they left for us was delicious. Plenty to do in the area and there are lots of brochures to browse through. Would recommend Violet Lodge to friends and we hope to return there.
“A lovely clean and quiet cottage.”
Simon and Trish were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. We much enjoyed our stay. C & W.
“This is our second booking to Violet Lodge and it is excellent.”
Very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The owners Tricia and Simon make us feel so welcome too.
“Amazing place to stay so near lovely beaches and walks.”
Amazing hosts. Highly recommended
“Very quiet location, ideally placed for surrounding attractions.”
“Fantastic location and facilities”
“Well appointed, good layout.”
Friendly, welcoming and caring hosts. Everything you need for a relaxing break includes a visiting muntjac family in the garden most evenings. Probably the most luxurious garden shed in the world!
“We had a lovely and relaxed time in the lodge, which was extremely well appointed and cozy and the owners had left us a delicious cake on arrival.”
The village of Neatishead has a pub and a small village shop which is a bit of a deli at the same time and sells local produce, some of which make nice presents to take away. The area is wonderfully devoid of people and cars. We spent most of our time visiting nature reserves and gardens. If you are after a slower pace of life in beautiful surroundings then we highly recommend staying at this beautiful property.
“Amazing hosts watching deer in the back garden while eating breakfast .”
All mod cons 100% going back a must for a peaceful break
“The Lodge was beautifully furnished and equipped to a very high standard.”
Lodge was set in a beautiful and peaceful location with a good local shop and good pub. The Lodge owners were very friendly and helpful. Trish met us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome.
“This is an excellent place.”
Very comfortable in a very nice setting and equipped to a high standard.
“Excellent well thought out accommodation and attentive host.”
Good village location with nearby shop and good pub/restaurant. Highly recommended.
“A lovely, cosy, comfortable and warm cabin.”
Extremely well equipped with amazing attention to detail. The bed was really comfortable and we appreciated the lovely thick towels. We had a really relaxing and enjoyable break, enjoying good a couple of meals at the local pub which was only a short walk away.
“Our hosts were friendly and helpful.”
The accommodation was as we expected, and could hardly be bettered. We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable break.
“Beautiful Lodge everything was excellent quality Simon & Tricia were lovely , we hope to return next year .”
“The lodge was brilliantly fitted out and equipped and so comfy, and to cap it all the views were out of this world.”
We intended to have a restful week, but in the end walked miles taking in the sights. Another bonus a delightful pub and village shop just 5 mins down the road.
This beautifully-presented, ground floor detached lodge is set in the grounds of the owners’ home and offers a tranquil place to stay in the wonderful, unspoilt village of Neatishead, on the edge of the Broads National Park of Norfolk.
Ideal for a couple’s romantic retreat or a writer looking for a rural retreat, this cosy lodge has been presented to a high standard throughout, making exceptional use of space, ensuring you have everything you need for your stay.
On arrival you will get a real feel for the location, the lodge looks over the owners' beautifully kept garden which is a real suntrap and a haven for wildlife.
Step into the open plan living area with a bed to your left, kitchen and dining area to your right and a comfortable sitting area making the most of the garden views between the two.
Every small detail has been taken into account to make this property a fantastic place to stay in this wonderful location, which is excellent for walking, wildlife spotting and cycling.
Neatishead has a real traditional village feel to it, pop to the shop and enjoy the morning paper with a coffee while planning your day, or enjoy a bite to eat in the nearby White Horse, a gastropub and micro-brewery.
The village has its own staithe, allowing access to Barton Broad, a boating paradise with its clear, deep waters and a regatta in August.
This broad can also be reached on foot via a broadwalk, which is also easily accessible by wheelchair, and will take you on a mysterious journey of discovery into a lost world.
It has remained isolated for half a century and emerges to give a surprise panoramic view over Barton, the second largest of the broads.
Another hidden gem close by is the secluded Alderfen Broad, here you can enjoy peace and tranquillity that is hard to match, while enjoying scenic walks.
Also look out for a variety of rare bird species, otters and other wildlife.
Bird watchers will especially enjoy the bird migration in the Autumn months.
For those wanting a bit of adventure there is a local trust nearby offering a variety of boating opportunities.
Once you have experienced this almost secret little broad you will revel in the fact that it's not more popular.
Violet Lodge provides a base offering excellent access to the Norfolk Broads, North Norfolk coastline and a short drive from the historical city centre of Norwich; there is plenty to do here.
Whether it’s a romantic getaway or someone just needing some time out to relax, this lodge is ideal whatever the time of the year and you will want to return again and again.
