  • "We have stayed in many lodges in North Yorkshire, this was the best by a distance."

Plenty of space and not lodges crammed in together. The lodge inside was extremely spacious, king size bed with en suite. Perfect distance from a dog friendly pub and from local attractions. The hot tub was massive, clean and looked brand new. For the price, best value for money we have encountered so far. 10/10 would recommend, will be back!

  • "From the moment we stepped foot into Hazel we were absolutely thrilled."

It was a beautiful lodge and very comfortable. Being close to Whitby was an absolute game changer and the surrounding fields were peaceful. It was genuinely one of the best lodges we have stayed in and will definitely be repeat visitors. It was very well equipped and a great size. The only possible niggle was that it could have done with a couple of large bath sheets, especially for the hot tub and some robes would have been nice, as these have been provided in all lodges we have previously visited. However this would not be a barrier to returning as I will.l just pack my own next time. The only disappointment was that we had to come home!

Thank you for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Hazel Lodge and that it exceeded your expectations from the moment you arrived. It’s fantastic to know that you found the lodge comfortable, well equipped and peaceful, and that the location worked so well for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area. Location is beautiful and easy access to town I would not recommend based on our experience of this lodge. No follow up from owners to check all ok

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to apologise again for the housekeeping issue on arrival. Unfortunately, due to an administrative error, your booking details were not passed through correctly to our housekeeping team, meaning the lodge was not prepared before your arrival as it should have been. As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we acted immediately to have the lodge attended to and made ready for your stay. We also arranged a complimentary meal at the local pub as a gesture of goodwill to apologise for the inconvenience caused. We would also like to reassure future guests that the hot tubs are maintained separately from housekeeping. Each hot tub is drained, cleaned, refilled and treated by our dedicated hot tub team prior to guest arrival. We’re sorry that this affected your first impressions of the lodge and your holiday. Whilst we’re pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful location and found the property itself to be nice, we understand that the arrival experience fell short of the standards we aim to provide. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and will continue to work with our teams to ensure situations like this do not happen again. The Stag Lodges Team Property Owner

Easy to find with instructions provided. There was just 2 of us and 1 dog so had plenty room, might be a bit snug for 4 adults. Beautiful views and well spaced from other lodges. Hazel lodge is in an elevated position so bear this in mind if you have mobility problems. Very well equipped for a self catering holiday including an iron and ironing board. The hot tub was great. The bed was quite comfortable could do with a mattress topper. A mat at the front doors might help keep the lovely cream carpet clean. Plenty of storage space. We used the park and ride and the stables pub both great and a five minute walk from lodge. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "We all loved our week-long holiday at Hazel Lodge."

It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the excellent hot tub was used virtually every day. Even though we love Whitby, it was nice to return to the tranquility of the lodge on an evening to unwind from the hustle and bustle. This was made easy by the lodge's location, so close to the Park and Ride which we used frequently. Only £5-20 for a family day ticket, much cheaper than paying to park in town and avoiding the hassle of having to find a parking spot. This also meant, being the only driver in the family, that I could have a few drinks. The nearby pub/hotel (The Stables) was also excellent, with a lovely beer garden and fantastic views. There were also some great views from the lodge and a large grass area to the side of the lodge where my Son and I could have a kickabout and play frisbee. A great base to explore other places like Sandsend and Robin Hood's Bay too, as the Park and Ride and Arriva bus services were both excellent. Would definitely recommend Hazel Lodge and would definitely return. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday.

  • "Although this site is close to a busy road, we didn’t notice the noise - even when in the hot tub."

We like that it is a half hour walk from Whitby and that the site is small and spacious (you don’t feel overlooked by your neighbours). The lodge itself is stunning and we like that there are two shower rooms with toilets. The master bedroom has a huge walk in wardrobe and the twin isn’t cramped. The hot tub got to 38 degrees, which is pleasant enough and typical of a lot of holiday lets. Personally I like it at 39 degrees but that is on the hot side. We would like clearly marked recycling and rubbish bins in the bin hut but maybe they’re not quite there yet with it being a new site. We recommend this lodge and site.

Thank you for your lovely feedback — we’re so pleased you enjoyed the lodge, the spacious layout, and the facilities. Just to mention, the hot tubs can be adjusted to your preferred temperature if you’d like it a little warmer next time. We also use a private waste company that takes care of recycling off-site, so there’s no need to separate rubbish. We really appreciate the recommendation and would love to welcome you back! • "The accommodation as lovely as it is and in a great setting often felt like you were on a building site."

It is not made clear that the site is not yet completed and ongoing development continues to include tarmac surfacing to the main entrance, drilling and ongoing construction work. I had to request coat hangers as only 2 were in the wardrobe- the owner was prompt at providing lots more the following day. The seal in the shower was faulty so we were not able to use this, again I informed the owner of this. Lighting on the site is poor at night and the current lighting doesn’t seem adequate, we arrived at night and really struggled navigating the lodge in the dark. It would also have been helpful to have bins closer to the lodges - the current arrangements are at the entrance gate. This site was great for accessing the park and ride service which is a 5 minute walk away. The lodges are well equipped and clean and it is nice that dogs are welcome. I would like to revisit when the site is fully complete - the views and scenery are stunning and from our lodge we could see Whitby Abbey a good base for a break near Whitby.

Thank you for your detailed feedback — we’re really pleased you enjoyed the lodge, its cleanliness, and the beautiful setting. We appreciate your comments and would like to clarify a few points. The bins are positioned at the entrance to allow guests to easily drop off their rubbish on the way out, which helps keep the lodge areas clean and tidy. Regarding the lighting, we’re located within the North York Moors and follow strict dark sky guidelines set by planning regulations, so we’re limited in what lighting we can install on-site. As a brand-new development, there are still a few finishing touches being completed, and we do apologise if this impacted your stay. We’d love to welcome you back once everything is fully complete Stag lodges team Property Owner
