  • "We had such a great weeks stay at red deer lodge!"

The lodge was beautiful! We loved the wood burning stove! Kitchen was fully equipped. The beds were comfy, the lodge clean and the bathrooms really spacious. Surrounded with lovely walks we had the perfect week. My only feedback would be to maybe have a fence to let dogs out to the toilet, because it’s a bit of a hassle getting the dogs harnesss and lead every time to go out to the toilet! And maybe a baby gate for the bottom of the stairs to keep dogs downstairs? But other than these minor things we had a fab week! Would love to come back again

Thank you for a WONDERFUL place to truely escape to. A calm haven nestled in the forest ready to explore the spectacular area. The best nights sleep I ever had away from my own bed!

  • "Lovely lodge and a fantastic location."

Very private and loved the outdoor fire. The Lodge was very well thought out and the balconies where an added bonus. The only downside was one of the beds was broken and there was no lighter for the fire. It was very clean and had every utensil you could ask for. Definitely will be back I would imagine it would be stunning in the winter.

  • "We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Red Deer Lodge."

The lodge was very clean and most importantly so warm and very well insulated. We had some international visitors with us and they commented how warm and bright the accommodation was. The only request I would have is if the owner can provide maybe a pint of milk until the lodgers can settle and do a proper shopping and perhaps more cleaning products for the bathroom for us to keep the place clean during the stay as well as few more rolls of toilet paper. Otherwise all is good and I would definitely come back again.

  • "1. Great house - we enjoyed our stay and the blocked shower drain was soon sorted - thank you."

    2. My daughter-in-law said there was nowhere to sit in front of a mirror to apply make-up. The bedroom "had been designed by a man" in her own words. The mirror was in the wrong place (upstairs double room). 3. The light at the bottom of the stairs is way too bright and needs to be dimmed. The children wanted the light on and the adults, in the evening, found that light to be a real annoyance. You could not relax with it. We assumed that it was a daylight (blue) bulb because it was so bright. 4. You might like to check the kitchen sink waste pipe, which we thought was about to block up. It made some really strange gurgling sounds. 5. A few more cushions in the lounge might be handy to create more comfort. 6. Some members said they could smell 'dog smells' in the house. None of us keep dogs and we assumed that the covers over the sofa and chairs were to accommodate dogs. Do these covers get washed before the next visitors? I have a very poor sense of smell, so it didn't bother me. 7. If you had supplied a sweeping brush with a long handle we would have swept the floors during the week but we couldn't find one. 8. The location is superb and very convenient for everything we wanted to do. When the drain blocked the repair was done very efficiently and did not impact on our holiday. Looking out over the woodland was a delight each morning.

  • "Overall the property was great, fab location and nice and peaceful."

There us loads of stuff to do nearby which is also good. The properties were private and had more than enough room for 7 adults to fit comfortably It could have done with a bigger sign as the property was a tad difficult to find as well as some lights to illuminate the pathway around the houses at night. The beds were a touch soft for our groups liking but that is just personal preference.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Since your stay we have installed more lighting around the pathway at the front of the lodges. Sorry to hear you had trouble finding the site, we send written directions, along with a what3words location reference in our welcome email to all guests. Property Owner

Great location, perfect for exploring the Cairngorms national park. Close enough to Aviemore by car for supplies but still peaceful and remote. The lodge is lovely, well appointed and comfortable. I had the upstairs double room this time which I loved - did take me a day to get used to the sloping ceiling though! Only slight issue we had was lack of toilet roll - no spare rolls were supplied. Just as well we brought some just in case … I sure we will return here again in the future.

  • "The property is in a good location and overall quite good."

The dog friendly properties would benefit with an enclosed fenced area at the back . The oven was dirty on arrival. The tea towels although clean were stained. The kitchen would benefit with scissors and tongs. The sofa was very uncomfortable to sit on . The upstairs bedrooms were far too hot to use and the mattress in the downstairs bedroom needs replacing. It's far too soft and you end up rolling into the middle all night. The walk in shower only seems to work with both shower heads at the same time and the loose raised drain can be tripped on and smells after use.

Unfortunately, we are unable to separate the gardens fully and as a result, provide long leads for guests to use while their dogs are outside in order to keep them safe during their stay. We are very glad to hear that you had a good stay and many thanks for noting your findings with the oven, shower, drains and tea towels to us, these have all been flagged with our changeover team and replacement scissors and tongs for the kitchen have been ordered. We are sorry to hear that you found the sofa and downstairs mattress uncomfortable, especially as the majority of our guests have commented on how comfortable they have found them. We will of course have both of these checked over for any unknown defects. The warm weather we experienced during your stay means that the lodges will have been warmer than usual; I personally found the upstairs of my property, a completely different type of building to the lodges, to be very warm last week too. If you book to stay with us again in the future we'd be delighted to welcome you back, please do feel free to contact us during your stay with any queries. Property Owner

The lodge was comfortable and well equipped. Opinions for improvement: dog safe area as our dog did tend to wander when doors were left open. Cleaning equipment would have been a good idea as we feel we like to leave accommodations how we left them. Dishwasher tablets and washing detergent for the washer would have been good too. Overall very happy, would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you for your hospitality.

  • "The holiday homes are beautiful in a great setting."

Would definitely return. My only areas for improvement would be they definitely need more seating for a holiday home that sleeps 8. The cooker and hob are not good, hob very difficult to work and oven doesn’t cook as expected very inefficient so needs to be at least 30 degrees higher. Washing machine also poor and trapped our clothes inside. Would recommend entrance matting in the properties front and back as impossible to stop anything being walked into hallway as little mat isn’t any good would also protect your flooring.

Thank you for your feedback, we’re really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the beautiful location of Feshiebridge Lodges. Thank you too for your feedback, our maintenance team have carried out work to make sure all appliances are behaving and operating as they should! Property Owner

Good job we took camping chairs and a camping bed. It would have been a bit more tidier if the overgrown grass at the rear had been cut or even slabbed so there is somewhere to sit in the sun because the outdoor seating area is in total dark shade. The bathrooms need hooks on the back of doors there's literally nowhere to hang anything. No bbqs allowed but there is an outdoor log burner. no logic there. Overall we had a good break but we were overcrowded.

The lodge is well equipped with high quality furnishings. The only observation we have is that from the perspective of a group of friends, the bedrooms would have benefitted from all being twins. The two doubles and sofa bed are far more suited to couples. Sleeping 8 is a stretch because of this. Living area furniture definitely doesn’t accommodate 8.

It appeared Someone had previously washed and dried their dog bedding in this and it wasn’t cleaned before we arrived. This took us over 30 minutes to remove and wash the inside of the washing machine of hair clogging up the machine. Overall we did have a nice time.

We really fell in love with the beautiful location which was amazingly peaceful and very picturesque. The lodge is very spacious and is well stocked with everything you could need. It is beautifully designed with an open plan kitchen and lounge area and 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 with balconies looking out into beautiful forestry. Lovely large windows throughout for enjoying the beautiful views. All of the soft furnishings and accessories are from John Lewis, a very stylish touch. We so enjoyed sitting in the balcony in the morning enjoying a coffee and beautiful views. There is decked area accessed through the lounge and also a side door so was great for bringing bikes and dogs through, there’s garden furniture as well so we often sat in that area in the afternoon looking out into the forest area. It was so peaceful with birds singing throughout the day, simply amazing. There’s a further decked/covered area at the main entrance which was great for storing jackets and shoes/boots etc. The only problem we encountered was with the induction hob, could only get one of the rings to work, wasn’t sure if the issue was with the hob or the pots and pans. We will definitely be returning to the lodge in the future.

The accommodation was of a high standard but there are a few points that would make it even better. Need some hooks to hang stuff up in the bathrooms, need a better mirror in the upstairs bathroom, an enclosed area at the back of each property so dogs don't wander off around other properties, and need some egg cups. There were only 4 of us staying so sofa and easy chairs fine but would be tight if more staying. And wifi a bit of a palava.

  • "To make this useful feedback- the lodge was plenty big enough, lots of thought for storage and wet weather stuff."

Nicely laid out and didn’t feel too crowded at all. Very comfortable beds, great showers. The thing overall that would have made The biggest difference to comfort is the installation of insect screens so windows could be opened without midges and wasps ( yes, two wasp nests found and reported) coming in. The upstairs rooms were uncomfortably hot at night, preventing sleep in some instances. The main thing that was disappointing was the lack of induction hob suitable pans. We reported the frying pan initially and were given a new one towards the end of the week- but it was clearly marked not suitable for induction hob. We then checked the other pans and only one was appropriate, which explains why it was so difficult to cook. There were also no oven gloves ( our friends next door did have them). Given that these are self catering cottages that is quite a big fail. A smaller improvement would be the provision of hooks on the back of bathroom and bedroom doors to hang towels on. Location was great. The lodges were well designed so even though they are close together they had privacy and quiet. We would potentially consider booking again.

Dog and bike wash very good idea it has a tap but no hose. This is supposed to sleep 8 but can only seat 4 sofa holds 3 and 1 chair. To make this luxury they really need to add things like bath sheets not towels. Better sofas for comfort and proper sofabed.
