  • "The accommodation was absolutely first class."

The pictures are very accurate in fact it is better in real life. The kitchen is amazing and has every piece of equipment you might need. It is on a working farm but with privacy if you want it. Dog Walks start on the farm so it was perfect for the dogs.

Thankyou so much for your lovely feedback . We strive to make our holiday barn perfect for all ages . Property Owner

  • "A fabulous stay in a beautiful area of the Yorkshire Dales."

The cottage had a great layout and was spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you could need. We were surprised with a lovely welcome pack from the owners on arrival and they were friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. Our only recommendation would be a real log fire, instead of electric as we did experience a power cut and 2nd source of heating would have been great! Overall would recommend this cottage as the surrounding area and walks are beautiful. Thanks for a great stay!

  • "Absolutely beautiful barn conversion and very comfortable bed in the largest room."

Everything there in the kitchen to make our stay as comfortable as possible including a lovely welcome basket with a bottle of Prosecco. The only thing I could recommend would be a couple of grab rails in the en-suite shower. We had intended to take our 9 month old Dachshund along with us but I’m glad that we changed our minds at the last minute as there would have been a problem with him sleeping in his bed in the bedroom because in the welcome/Information booklet it stated that dogs were only permitted in the lounge and kitchen. Nobody would have slept with the howling lol

  • "We had a lovely stay at Larklands in Ravensworth."

The cottage was beautiful. The character of the old barns/mill was kept with comfortable modern facilities. All on one level. It was good for my mother and father in law, who have mobility restrictions. Only thing I would like to request is a grab rail in the walk in shower in the ensuite. My mother in law was a little worried about falling, but she got used to it and had a lovely holiday. The cottage was spacious and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with an excellent stove. Beds comfortable. The owner friendly and on site. We loved the area. Beautiful countryside with easy access to Barnard Castle, Raby Castle and Richmond with access to stately homes and beautiful gardens. The farm on which the cottage was located was lovely. Very clean with free range animals. Chickens and cats free to roam about the yard and fields. A lovely litter of ginger kittens born of a ferrel Queen played outside our window. The village of Ravensworth was beautiful and had character. Friendly people and landlord at the local. Enchanting. I would highly recommend this cottage and would return again with family. Everything was wonderful.

My dogs got used to the lovely large windows with passing ducks, hens, cats and dogs! A very pretty setting and a real farm experience. There was no enclosed garden for the dogs but we were able to use the garden outside with our dogs on long leads. If you are taking dogs for off lead walks there are super dog walks on the old racecourse just outside Richmond. Lovely holiday ,very helpful owners.

What a location! The barn is clean and comfortable whilst homely at the same time. Everything we needed was provided. Angela was very responsive and accommodated our requests. The area is beautiful. If you enjoy the outdoors then this is for you. Good to have 2 pubs so close by. The closest supermarket was approx 5 miles in Richmond. Would love to stay again.

Friendly owners and well-placed for visiting the Dales and other places of interest. Richmond, which we'd not visited before, was one of the highlights. Shame the local pub is vacant. Approach to the property needs care along a stony farm track.

  • "Would definitely recommend this accommodation."

More than described in the listing. It was huge, Extremely comfortable for 6 of us and well equipped with all mod cons and more than enough cutlery and cooking equipment to go round. Comfy beds and good size bedrooms, the sofas in the living room were huge and newly installed smart tv if you get time to watch TV! Jack and Angela excellent hosts, spotlessly clean on arrival, nice welcome basket and they were easily available if we had any issues. Jack a fountain of knowledge and delivered us fresh eggs which were delicious. All around you is country side so ideal if you have a dog although there are free wandering chickens and sheep so a lead is necessary around the accommodation. Easy accessible to local attractions and a great but steep walk up the hill at the back of the farm to The Shoulder of Mutton at Kirby Hill. The pub in the village is unfortunately shut but still listed in the description as being open. Overall we would return and enjoyed our stay.

  • "Although the owners and the cottage are lovely we were very disappointed to find that the pub in the village had close on the 1st of January!"

! One of the reasons we booked this cottage is because it said there was a pub in walking distance. As it's a £30 taxi round trip to Richmond we had to spend evenings in the cottage which wasn't what we planned. Also it is a bit like being in a goldfish bowl and Charlotte was shocked when she was in the shower and the farmer walked past the bathroom window, fortunately she saw the funny side of it but it made it quite gloomy keeping the curtains closed in the bathroom and bedrooms. On a positive side the cottage is spacious and well equipped and a fab welcome tray was waiting for us. The bedding is so snugly it was hard to leave it. It was warm and cosy even though it was cold and windy outside.

  • "We stayed at the end of October and loved every second."

We wanted a nice, relaxing and comfortable stay.. and we were not disappointed! The hosts, Angela and Jack were really nice and very helpful. We arrived to a welcome hamper which was very generous. The Arches has everything you need - They have thought of everything We stayed in The Arches - The place is huge! It was very clean, warmand comfortable. The barn conversion has been done to a very high standard. We wanted a place where we, as a family, could chill, chat cook and spend some quality time together and The Arches was perfect for this. All the rooms are massive. Especially the main bedroom. There is a decent speed WiFi at the property Mobile phone signal is patchy but that did not bother us We took our dog and we enjoyed lots of walks. The dog and kids loved watching the chickens and ducks outside the window It's a working farm so there are lots of animals Especially sheep. The view from The Arches looks towards the village of Ravensworth - you can even see the ruins of the Castle which was built in 1200! You have to drive by it when entering and leaving the farm - We thought this was very cool There is a huge lake on the land too Lots of ducks and wildlife - great for walking around We really enjoyed our stay - We were gutted to come home

Angela and Jack are lovely hosts. Very rural so you have to love the countryside. Beautifully spacious and a fantastic kitchen with everything you need. Bedrooms are big and beds very comfortable. As other reviewers have said the opposite cottage faces you from about 20 ft away so be prepared to see your neighbours or draw the curtains. Very quiet and peaceful and, as long as you don't mind, a waking chorus from the cockerels. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay here again. Great base for exploring the local area.

The Cottage was comfortable, clean and warm. Everything was supplied that we needed, such as dishwasher tabs etc and there were lovely touches which included a vase of lilies and a bottle of prosecco. We were a little concerned about being able to keep the entrance area clean after long, muddy walks as the carpet was a little light in colour. We also had added pressure to make sure our French Bulldog obeyed the house rules! We just wish our stay was longer than 3 nights as we would have loved to keep exploring the area. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Made up of pretty, weathered sandstone cottages with their unusual 'Yorkshire' roofs - a mix of soft red pantiles and slate – the village is centred around a wide, picturesque village green. At one end of the green the popular Bay Horse Inn serves good food and drink. Pretty footpaths run from Ravensworth through the surrounding villages allowing visitors to enjoy many circular walks. Close by are the popular Swaledale market town of Richmond and the Teesdale market town of Barnard Castle. Both offer a wide range of amenities and shops. A lovely restful location!
