Sykes Directors of Fun Competition Terms and Conditions

 

1. Introduction

These are the terms and conditions that apply to the competition with the title "The Best Holiday Parks in the UK: Directors of Fun" (Competition) that is being run by the Promoter (as defined below) on the promoter's website.

By entering the Competition, you are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions.

2. The Promoter

The promoter for the Competition is Sykes Cottages Ltd of One City Place, Queens Road, Chester, CH1 3BQ (Promoter and Promoter's Address).

Sykes Cottages Family Brands are: Abersoch Quality Homes, Best Escapes, Best of Suffolk, Carbis Bay Holidays, Character Cottages, Coast and Country Cottages, Cornish Cottage Holidays, Dream Cottages, Heart of the Lakes, Helpful Holidays, Hideaways, Hogans Irish Cottages, John Bray Cornish Holidays, Lakes Cottage Holidays, Lake District Lodge Holidays, Lakelovers, Large Holiday Houses, Lyme Bay Holidays, Manor Cottages, Menai Holidays, Northumbria Coast and Country Cottages, Sykes Holiday Cottages, Welsh Coast and Country Cottages, UKCaravans4Hire.com, UK Lodge Breaks and Yorkshire Coastal Cottages (each, a Sykes Cottage Family Brand).

These terms and conditions do not apply to bookings of Forest Holidays properties.

3. How to Enter the Competition

3.1. To enter you must: (i) complete the Director of Fun Competition Entry Form (Form) by entering your name and email address and the name and age of the child you believe should be the Director of Fun (Nominated Child) and by providing up to 300 words on the Nominated Child’s perfect holiday park itinerary and (ii) submit the Form (this is a valid Entry).

3.2. The Competition will run from 09:00am on 29th March 2026 (Opening Date) to 23:59pm on 30th April 2026 (Closing Date).

3.3. Entry to the Competition must have been made before the Closing Date. An Entry to the Competition received after the Closing Date won't be accepted.

3.4. There is no purchase necessary to enter the Competition from the Promoter's perspective.

3.5. The Promoter will not (a) accept responsibility for Competition entries that are lost, regardless of cause, including, for example due to equipment and/or system failure or a technical malfunction or (b) accept proof of an Entry by any means other than what appears to the Promoter on the Promoter's system as proof of entry into a Competition when the Promoter checks this after the Closing Date.

4. Eligibility to Enter the Competition

4.1. The Competition is open to all residents in the UK aged 18 years or over, except employees of the Promoter and their family members.

4.2. On entering the Competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so. The Promoter may require proof of this.

4.3. By entering the Competition, you agree that if you are selected as a Winner (see clause 6 below), the Promoter may use the Nominated Child's first name and/or an image of the Nominated Child, and that you will provide the Promoter with written content and photos/videos from your stay. You also agree that you are happy for the Promoter to publish this content and these images on any Sykes Cottages Family Brand website(s).

4.4 The Promoter will not accept any Entry that is (a) automatically generated by computer, (b) completed by a third party or completed in bulk and/or (c) is incomplete.

4.5. There is a limit of one Entry per email address.

4.6. The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you from a Competition if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of a Competition.

5. The Prize

5.1. The prize for the Competition is:

5.1.1. a holiday, to be taken in 2026, at a holiday park with Sykes Family Brand properties on, up to the value of £1,500 (Stay).

5.1.2. £500 cash spending money to use during your Stay.

(together, the Prize).

5.2. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

5.3. The Prize is not negotiable or transferable.

5.4. The Prize is not in paper form; the Promoter will book the Stay after agreeing the Winners are happy with the choice. The Promoter will also bank transfer the £500 spending money to the Winners after receiving their bank details.

6. Winner of the Competition

6.1. There will be two winners of the Competition (Winners). The Winners of the Competition will be selected based on the best submission by a judging panel made up of members of the Sykes Marketing Team and an independent judge (Judges). The decision of the Judges, in relation to their role in the process, will be final.

6.2. The decision of the Promoter, having consulted the Judges, is final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

6.3. There will be 2 winning Entries in total.

6.4. The Promoter will contact the Winner within 28 working days after the Closing Date via email (Notification).

6.5. The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid Competition took place. The Promoter will send the surname and county of the Competition Winner to anyone who emails dpo@sykescottages.co.uk or writes to the Promoter at the Promoter's Address, in both instances, within two months after the Closing Date of that Competition.

6.6. If you object to any or all of your surname, county being published or made available, please email dpo@sykescottages.co.uk or write to the Promoter at the Promoter's Address. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

6.7. The Promoter will process your personal data as set out in the https://www.sykescottages.co.uk/terms/privacypolicy

7. Claiming a Prize

7.1. If you are the Winner of the Prize (you will have received a Notification; see clause 6.4 above), you must claim the Prize by replying to the email sent by the Promoter accepting the Prize. You will have 10 working days from the date of the Notification to claim it. If you do not claim the Prize by this date, your claim will become invalid, and a new winner may be selected.

7.2. The Prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.

7.3. The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up a Prize.

8. Limitation of Liability

Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any person that submits an Entry, including but not limited to the Winners of the Competition, or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up a Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter or its employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

9. General

9.1. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so.

9.2. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
