The property

A stylish and contemporary three bedroom holiday cottage, within easy walking distance of Whitby harbour, shops and restaurants. This stunning newly-built property is designed with modern living in mind: it boasts a cinema room, open-plan layout, games room, three superb bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms.

Private parking is a big advantage in thriving Whitby – here there’s space for two cars.

You’ll also be near the beach, so enjoy some quality downtime by the sea.

What a dreamy getaway for families or couples! The ground floor comprises a large and impressive open plan living area – all the space you’ll need to be together and still do your own thing.

An immaculate kitchen and breakfast bar features a stylish dining area with a choice of seating.

It’s easy to imagine convivial mealtimes, with great conversation. When it’s time to unwind, chill out in the cinema room and catch up on movies in style.

Wow!

The ceilings are double height and there’s even a games area with table football for the young at heart. Grab a quiet moment to yourself in the reading nook and indulge with a book from the small library or simply peruse the morning papers.

The vibe here is peaceful and contemporary. A separate utility room houses a washer/dryer plus there’s a handy ground floor cloakroom. Heading upstairs, you’ll find two first floor bedrooms: a smart family bedroom with three beds, including adult-size bunk beds and a full size 3′ single bed; also a king-size double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

A stylish house bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC completes this floor. The whole of the top floor is devoted to a superb master bedroom suite with a double bed and views to the front and rear, including towards Whitby’s iconic Abbey.

The en-suite shower room has a shower, basin and WC. Sherlock Cottage has a flagged rear courtyard garden with furniture and a BBQ stand.

There is a small garden to the front plus private parking for two cars. The old fishing port of Whitby is arguably one of the most picturesque in the UK.

From the rugged Abbey ruins on the east cliff, down to the waterside through a crosspatch maze of red roof cottages – it’s a sight to treasure, and even better when explored on foot.

Be sure to make time for gastronomic pleasures, such as a visit to the cult food stop: Fortune’s kipper shop and smokehouse.

There are many excellent restaurants and, of course, top class fish and chip establishments. Close by is Staithes, location for the much-loved CBBC series Old Jack’s Boat.

It’s also home to a thriving artistic community and an excellent place for a spot of fossil-hunting.

Other nearby places of interest along the coast include: Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay, Filey and Scarborough – all with their own unique ambience. Sherlock Cottage is a gem of a find, a wonderful place to call home during your coastal adventure.
