Belford Cottages
Please find below a selection of self catering holiday cottages
to rent in Belford, Northumberland.
If you're looking for a scenic base to tour North
Northumberland, a Belford holiday cottage places you close to the
coast and to the Cheviot Hills. The Scottish Borders are handy
too.
Belford is a very old, very quiet and very friendly village,
with a traditional market square crowned by a medieval cross. Drop
by in August and find a bustling continental market here.
There's a good variety of shops including crafts, toys and a
supermarket, along with a fish & chips shop and a hotel with
restaurant and bar.
Play golf? Just a short stroll from the village centre is The
Belford, a lovely parkland course with panoramic views of the Holy
Island of Lindisfarne in the distance. Each hole can be played from
two different angles and there's a floodlit driving range to
practise your swing.
Should you prefer walking, Belford is a great place to join the
coastal path and St Cuthbert's Way - Bamburgh Castle is just
five miles away and the village of Fenwick a pleasant six mile walk
through woods and over rugged moors. Or visit the local riding
centre and enjoy a hack through St Cuthbert's Wood, protected
by the National Trust and home to a mysterious cave. Rock climbing
is also popular, as is cycling along the many tranquil lanes and
wooded trails.
Day trip ideas include boat trips to the Farne Islands from
Seahouses; the Northumberland National Park; the award-winning
Alnwick Garden; historic Berwick-upon-Tweed...all this and more on
a Belford cottage holiday.
