  • "Lovely little cottage and a great base to visit north and south Cornwall."

    Can technically sleep 4 although the sofa bed would be a hard nights sleep I would imagine. Plenty of room with a large lounge and kitchen diner. Me and my wife stayed with our two dogs and still had plenty of room. As long as you’re happy driving to and from your outings you’ll be fine as there’s no where really to walk to and from the property especially if you have dogs. Only real downside was the log Burner being broken for us. Would happily recommend to anyone

    Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The wood burning stove was broken by a previous guest. And due to size is having to have a part made especially. This was mentioned in the original advert for the property that the stove was unavailable. We have never had anyone use a wood burning stove in June ? The sofa bed has only been used on a number of occasions and we have had no complaints regarding the comfort of the sofa bed.Regards the walking of dogs. There is a field near the property and a footpath within walking distance. Property Owner

  • "Wow factor “Skylark Cottage” From the moment we walked into the cottage we loved it."

    It’s so clean,spacious, well equipped and the outside raised patio area was lovely to eat our welcomed cream tea that the owners had made. Our dog Angel loved it and settled well;she made herself comfy on her fleece on the spacious lounge floor. We recommend Seaton Beach and just up the road The Copley Arms if you want a drink or something to eat with your dog also Par sands beach to let your dog have a good run in the sea. Another nice free place to walk your dog is Bodmin Beacon lots of different parking places around there.   • "We loved staying in Skylark Cottage."

    It was spotlessly clean, very spacious and very well equipped. The owners have taken much trouble to make it very comfortable and pretty. It was warm and cosy on cooler days, with its own outside space for nice days and it has good views and easy parking. It’s ideal for a dog as there is small enclosed courtyard, and a grassy area just beyond. The lane is a dead end and is only used by the residents of the cottages, so it’s very quiet. Outside areas were very tidy and well- kept with tubs planted with flowers. Access to the cottage is down a farm lane which concreted and gravelled so not difficult and it’s a short drive to village shop and to Looe and Liskeard. We also loved the cream tea freshly prepared for our arrival - thank you!

  • "Cottage was very clean & smelled fresh when we opened the door."

    The front patio garden area was truly dog safe. We were allowed access to a green space to allow the dogs to run around. The owners have put 2 smart tv’s there and WiFi routers in the kitchen/diner, lounge and the bedroom which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. In the kitchen/ diner there is only 1 chair in the area where the tv is. A second chair or small sofa would be a great addition. The wood burner is in this area so would like to spend more time in this room during the winter. We felt the owners were very caring and put a lot of effort into making the cottage perfect. A definite return property for us. Great dog walking in the Ladhydrock estate near Lostwithiel.

  • "The only slightest of issue was that there isn't really anywhere to walk your dogs from the property apart from the spare bit of land opposite the Skylark and this is marked as a kids play area, so didn't want to use it."

    The alternative is to walk up the access lane for the property and this as a electric fence which one of our dogs found out was live once. Otherwise this place is excellent

    Thanks for your feedback, Regarding a fence in the local area, this is outside our remit as it belongs to a local farmer and if livestock are in fields then some fencing may be electrified. We are enquiring if local farmers would put signage up if fencing is electrified but it is regrettably outside our control We can reassure guests however that the dedicated communal lawned area at the property is also dog friendly and guests are welcome to use that area to exercise their pets.   • "The property is stunning and has been fitted out to a very high spec."

    We loved our stay there and toured north and south Cornwall using it as a base. The cleansing could have been better there were cobwebs everywhere. The wifi info was poor but we got there in the end. I would recommend this place to everybody.

Apologies for any cobwebs, we do check for these but as this is a rural location, they can suddenly appear from time to time especially in September.   • "Please note that, Post Code Sat Nav directions alone do not take you to Skylark Cottage so the additional directions provided are definitely required."

    The driveway leading to the cottages could do with some maintenance as it's like driving on a rumble strip and does include a very noticeable 'dip' approximately half way along - so 'crawling' speed is necessary to avoid any damage to vehicles. The listed information notes 'Shop 0.1miles' - no idea where this was - unless you are referring to the 'Farm Shop' which was located to the rear of the property that you would still have to drive to as there was no 'on foot access' and the 'Shop' was practically derelict and not particularly inviting. The listed information DID note 'Pub 1.0 mile' although I see that that has now changed to '5 miles' which is more accurate. Regardless of all the above, we had a lovely time and the cottage was very well equipped and a good base for exploring Cornwall - but 2 quests plus a dog, I would consider to be more than adequate for any length of stay. The owners of the property were extremely pleasant and helpful regarding some minor queries that we had which were resolved promptly and the home made scones were absolutely delicious!!

The access road itself is owned by Cornwall council and so is outside our control and there is a slight dip in the road but this can be seen if driving slowly. The farm shop is admittedly small, so we will change the advert listing to reflect the village shop mileage and there is a Spar shop about 5 miles away, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We do find that Sat Nav/Google maps is not necessarily accurate as it directs people to fields so we include actual directions on our pre arrival email advice to guests.     Great parking and beautiful outlook, brilliant WiFi better than at home One!! One piece of advice is to prebook activities prior to arrival as a lot are online booking. Would defenitely book again

  • "Our cottage/barn was beautiful within a stunning setting and central to explore North Cornwall and beyond."

    A gem tucked away- follow the written directions and not your Sat Nav as that will literally take you to the farm and you can’t access the holiday cottages this way. We loved Sky lark and would happily go back time and time again.

Looking out to distant countryside views, Skylark Cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat or for a small family looking to enjoy a quiet Cornish break.

Bring your pets to this gorgeous setting and head into the welcoming lounge, a private room which houses a sofa bed and a TV.

Up three split-level steps is a sociable open-plan living space, here you can prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the kitchen, sit around the dining table with a bottle of wine, and curl up in front of the woodburning stove with your other half.

The property also boasts a contemporary shower room, with a sleek walk-in shower and a toasty heated towel rail.

Withdraw upstairs to the inviting bedroom where a double bed rests below intimate sloped ceilings with airy Velux windows, ideal for stargazing.

Outside the property you can dine al fresco and make use of the barbeque and picnic bench on sunny days, enjoying the beautiful valley views.

Also nearby is the fishing port of Looe, home to a sandy beach and colourful harbour where all the family can delight in seaside attractions, whilst the vibrant hotspots of Fowey and Polperro are great for days out.

The historic market town of Liskeard is located in South East Cornwall at the head of the Looe Valley. The town is home to a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. The beaches and harbour of the quaint fishing port of Looe is a mere 9 miles away. In-between there’s fishing at nearby Siblyback Lake, the Donkey Sanctuary at St Ann's Chapel, Cotehele House (NT) and gardens, and the championship golf course at St Mellion International Resort. Head to the world-famous Eden Project for a superb day out with the children.
