Unfortunately whilst reasonably well kept the village is showing some signs of neglect. The roadways were poorly maintained with quite a few large potholes. There were a few wooden features in the lawns that were clearly rotted and were just painted over. The windows and doors on our cottage were rotting so were not very pleasing to the eye. Also when we first visited the facilities were quite modern and felt luxurious. Now they are starting to look a bit dated. Easy things like update lights to led and put in WiFi that works. It is expected nowadays and it was awful. It very rarely worked. I had to buy more data from my provider as it wasn’t worth using. Come on guys these are easy things to fix and unfortunately as this is not a cheap self catering venue it is highly unlikely I would visit again which is a real shame as it could have been so much better.
Easily accessible by public transport. All you need to cook (& clean) was provided. As was bed linen.
“This was our second holiday at West Bay and it was even better than the first.”
The site is so nice with the lawned areas and the planting,it is also kept so clean and tidy. All of the sports available are great even for a 74 yr old and his younger wife of 71 yrs,we played tennis and swam every day.
“Our return ferry was changed by wightlink while there, to one 3 hours later.”
was a bit of a pain with having to be out of our cottage at 10 am and ferry now at 15.30.
“Everything about West Bay Club was perfect.”
The accomadation was spotless as were every area of the club.Staff were very friendly and helpful.I would rate it better than the hotels I have stayed in the past
“The accommodation was once again top quality.”
Staff were as friendly as ever ensuring anything I needed was made readily available. Food at the club was beautiful and the classes friendly and welcoming. Had a lovely chance to explore the island with lots to see and do within walking/cycling or driving distance. Can't wait to return!
“Very calm and peaceful surroundings.”
I fellt relaxed and rejuvenated after staying there. The stuff in the country club was very friendly. The cottage was clean and the kitchen was well equipped.

About the location
Newport 12 miles; Ryde 18 miles.
The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.
