Isle of Wight Steam Railway

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has been an important part of the island’s locomotive history for over 150 years. Here, you’ll find a fascinating museum, live music venue, play area and, of course, the historic steam engines!

The Victorian locomotives and their carriages have been restored to an almost perfect condition.

A typical ride on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway begins at Havenstreet Station. Here you can pick up a refreshment from the on-site café before boarding the train.

The ride itself passes through the Isle of Wight’s idyllic countryside, where stunning greenery awaits. Look out for deer and red squirrels too!

You’ll get the chance to stop at the quaint platforms of Ashey and Smallbrook Junction before reaching Wootton’s Edwardian station. After reaching Wootton, you can choose to get off and explore the village or continue on the steam engine back to Havenstreet.

When arriving back at Haventstreet station, be sure to go for a tour around the intriguing museum. Here, you can look forward to learning all about the locomotives and their part in the Isle of Wight’s history. The little ones will especially love this, as they can dress up as train drivers and conductors.

Why not venture to The Woodland too? The Woodland Stage rests here and plays host to live performers and birds of prey display. After sitting down to enjoy a show here, you can try your hand at walking along the picturesque Woodland Walk.

Alternatively, you can let the kids enjoy the play area as you settle down with a refreshment.

Treat your loved ones to a memorable day out at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway…
