  • “We had a wonderful time at Hengist Beach House.”

Really beautiful part of the world, 10 minutes walk from the beach so our morning walks with the kids was perfect distance. The kids loved the pool. Given the additional cleaning that was done due to Covid, we were given a long list of extra cleaning that was done that provided huge reassurance to us. The only minor point we would have loved to see improved was for the pool to be heated, but honestly it didn't stop us and the kids enjoying the pool morning til night, especially with the sun ...

The only minor point we would have loved to see improved was for the pool to be heated, but honestly it didn't stop us and the kids enjoying the pool morning til night, especially with the sun shining through the conservatory. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay. Honestly, it was very much worth the money.

The property

Just a short walk to the coast of Southbourne, Hengist Beach House is a delightful property offering views of a golf course, a beautiful nature reserve and plenty of rolling countryside, the perfect day out for the sport lovers of the group while the sun worshipers laze on the beach.

Kick off your shoes in the porch and wheel your suitcases into the large hallway before deciding who’s sleeping where; with two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs, this property allows access for a variety of individuals.

Before you unpack, head to the kitchen for a bite to eat, with a shop just a short drive away, you’ll be able to whip up anything you fancy in this clean and crisp area.

Head on through the second door and into the conservatory, with ample seating for everyone, it’s a lovely sunny room to enjoy whilst the kids splash about in the indoor heated pool; everything you could possibly want from a holiday.

For more formal meals, or a spot of fish and chips from Simon’s around the corner, the dining room is a delightful room to gather, particularly in the winter months with its feature gas coal-effect fire at the centre amongst a ravishing white brick wall; snug and splendid.

In the evenings, the first-floor sitting room is a wonderful area to unwind, both spacious and stylish with its own balcony overlooking the magnificent views, it’s an idyllic space to spend quality time with your loved ones.

The back garden is a lovely enclosed lawned area for the dog to get its exercise while you relax with a cup of tea before starting your adventure into Bournemouth for the day.

Just a short walk to the beach, be sure to stop off at the Hengistbury Visitor Centre, a beautiful coastal nature reserve and conservation area boasting flourishing flowers and signs of ancient settlement.

It’s a lovely place to get an insight into the past and current history and lands of Bournemouth.

Southbourne Beach is the perfect place to catch some waves, a Blue Flag award-winning area for its clean shingles and sand, with Fisherman’s Walk offering a wondrous woodland walk, it’s no wonder it’s so popular with families from all over.

Be sure to end your day at the Bistro on the Beach for delicious local seafood.

Slightly further out is the town of Christchurch, boasting a beautiful priory church, seen from the Beach House, and Highcliffe Castle, its own quay, and amusements that are fun for all the family, it’s well worth a trip.
