National Trust in the Lake District

Did you know that the National Trust owns approximately 20% of the Lake District National Park?

Over the past 120 years, the National Trust has nurtured the Lake District, preserving its heritage, iconic landscapes, and open spaces, ensuring that everyone will always be able to enjoy the area.

A variety of sights can be enjoyed during your visit. Most of them are free for everyone, but there’s a parking charge for non-National Trust members. A trip to the region is filled with magnificent walks, intriguing historic ruins, and magnificent stately homes and gardens.

Lake District National Trust properties include Wray Castle, which is situated on the shores of Lake Windemere. You will also find Beatrix Potter’s farmhouse, Hill Top Farm where you can see the maintained gardens and historic interiors.
