Cligga Head Tunnels

Little is known about the origins of Cligga Head Mine making its tunnels even more intriguing for walkers. The mine closed in 1945 after providing tin and tungsten for WWII.

Cligga’s tunnels run into the cliff face and visitors can enter at various points to explore the mine shafts and tunnels that once provided access, ventilation and drainage to the workings of the mine.

The walk down the cliff face and within the tunnels is uneven and at times challenging, requiring sturdy footwear and caution from visitors.

Cligga Head Tunnels offers breath-taking scenery…
