Dalby Forest
This 8,000-acre woodland is tucked away on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. Packed with several species of wildlife, various trails and activities; Dalby Forest is ideal for families.
If you’re wondering how much it costs to enter the forest, we have you covered. If you’re travel to Dalby Forest via public transport or bike, it’s free! Otherwise, there is a parking charge of £10 for all-day parking and a £5 charge for parking after 4pm during peak times. During off-peak times, parking charges are £5 no matter what time you visit.
Dalby Forest Walks
An absolute must-do activity when you come to Dalby Forest is wandering down one of its 23 trails. If you’re coming with family, the Ellerburn and Crosscliff View trails are both easy walks that take you past picnic spots.
If you’re up for a bit of excitement, why not hire a bike and ride along one of the mountain biking trails? Alternatively, you and the little ones can pay a visit to the marvellous Dalby Activity Centre or Go Ape.
Dalby Forest Gruffalo Trail
Entertain the kids even further by partaking in the Gruffalo Trail in Dalby Forest. Here, you can embark on a special trail to uncover all the Gruffalo sculptures peppered throughout the forest.
A great part of the forest is that it welcomes dogs! Your canine companion can come on a scenic walk with you. Afterwards, settle down for a picnic together or stop for a light bite at the Dalby Forest Cafe.
The forest is also home to an array of events, such as its special, free stargazing sessions. Additionally, many races, marathons and stunning exhibitions take place here!
